You know, a Vienna-Bethesda partnership wouldn't be the silliest thing. But probably a little late at this point. |
There are WAAAYY too many teams in this area! All promising to be ELITE. |
I love it when people say this. No way all those elite teams are as good as ours! pffft....who cares! Doesn't it depend on what you call elite? Whats your definition.... top 10% of players in age group? top 5, top 25? All these definitions can be called elite. Its a throwaway term, like super, or deluxe on the name of a part. |
DS has been asked by his friends to play in the "FCI cultural cup" this coming week-end. I could not find any information online. Anyone heard about it? |
That's pretty funny . . . and very accurate. True, BSouth 06 had some churn with about four kids leaving for DA, but most of both teams stayed intact. That speaks to the quality of the coaching because every single kid on the top team could've made a DA team, but opted to stay for another year. |
What could Vienna provide Bethesda-South that they don't already have? |
The players that they keep taking. And maybe they'd get some of the Vienna girls to move over as well. But that ship sailed -- Vienna's priority for its top players now is the VDA. |
So if Vienna attached their name to the Bethesda-South team somehow, then it's OK for kids to leave Vienna for Bethesda-South team? Why isn't it OK now? It should be about the kids getting the best training and opportunities. If Vienna isn't providing that, kids will and SHOULD leave. Period! Vienna shouldn't whine. They should provide a better product. It's that simple. When the Bethesda-South 2006 was created last year, I think it had 7 FPYC kids, 8 McLean kids, 2 Vienna kids, and 2 others who were playing with Bethesda (North). I think maybe 6 kids from the original roster went to DAs this year and they picked up 3 kids from Vienna. BSC-South did not TAKE kids from Vienna. These kids LEFT Vienna. If Vienna provided a better product maybe the kids wouldn't leave. PS: Why wasn't it a priority before for Vienna to get kids into DA programs? Just because they didn't have an agreement with a DA? So in other words, it's not about what's best for the kids at Vienna, it's what's best for their pocket books (and Vienna isn't alone in this regard.) |
How good is CMSSL? Edp? |
Oh my god, more Vienna whining in this thread. Why does a club that has done so little garner so much attention? |
I know. We should be able to mention that Bethesda South apparently still needs more 2006s even after taking players from Vienna without dredging up every old argument. Look, these players went from Vienna to Bethesda South for mostly valid reasons. That's fine. No one was *complaining* about it. Just noting it. I find it strange that Bethesda South still needs players in that age range. Could we possibly discuss that instead of going down the "I'm not bashing Vienna, I just don't understand why people respond when I say everyone should leave the club and join Joga" slope again? I'll do my part and ignore Vienna-related replies until there's actually Vienna news. |
I think the answer to needing more players was already touched on a few posts ago. There are a lot of "elite" teams in the area and a finite number of elite players. A team like Bethesda South is not for everyone as it requires a very committed player and family, similar to the DAs and top teams that compete in EDP. Even McLean U12 DA isn't at full roster yet. I'm pretty sure that DCU is and I don't know about VDA or Arlington. |
You must live in the Manassas/PW area. It's a local tournament for mainly local teams. Real Mundial, the league, has bookend tournaments, this tournament will be the first one before they start their Fall league. For the most part you will see Latino teams. The quality is random, but it is low cost and overall the players will have fun playing. It is not ranked. Real Mundial invites travel teams to come and play, sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't. If your DS will be on a decent squad, he should join. http://www.realmundial.com/tournaments/ |
Thanks, very helpful. He will definitely have a try at it. |
100% All about the product being offered. BSC-South is not scouting these teams. They put up their tryout dates like any other club and the players showed up. People are free to go where ever they think it is going to offer them the best opportunity. Although some left for DA there are many others on that top team that would have made DA but preferred to stay one more year and develop with the same coach. I'm sure BSC DA has these players under their watch which is not a bad situation to be in. |
