| I don't have time to read 50 pages. Is the answer to the OP true, false, or undetermined? |
AGREE. |
| Schools will open when it's safe, and they'll remain in DL if it isn't. That's all there is to it. |
Undetermined. |
The problem is "safe" is a relative term. Some would say safe is now-when we effectively flattened the curve in this area. Others think "safe" is when there is this magical vaccine that everyone is so sure we are going to get. In that case "safe" could be in 5-7 years. Are you ok with your kids doing distance learning for 5-7 years? |
Um yeah, we do have limited resources because we are in the middle of a freaking pandemic! We don't have the staff, the space, the busses, the money. Sure my kids need school ultimately but they can do ok while we get through the pandemic! This isn't forever. |
Determined that OP was correct. None of the options outlined in the governor’s report involve being back full-time. DL Will be at least part of the equation, though some are hopeful it will be better than what was offered in the spring |
| Safe when we have vaccine ready to go. Vaccinate vulnerable first |
Even fauci is saying he’s expecting a vaccine by end of year. |
We have the same staff, space, buses, and money we had last year. Well, maybe not money. Now all we need is a plan to apply the most effective mitigation measures consistent with opening school. It's nice if your kids can do ok even if they miss school for year. Most kids can't. |
"Safe" as determined by whom, based on what, compared to what? |
He doesn't have all the answers. He can expect anything he wants-we all can. Doesn't mean it will be the reality. |
The curve flattened because we stayed home. Open up schools and it'll turn right back upward again. |
I believe he said he is cautiously optimistic. Don’t read too much into that. There is no certainty. |
The Maryland plan for education makes it clear that schools will not reopen normally until a vaccine or cure is found. |
