And every child should have a loving, safe home - but we don't have the resources to give everyone everything that they want. What you are doing is standing outside in the middle of a drought saying that it should rain - 'aint gonna make it rain. So how do we best get through this? I purport that we should do our best to help the most disadvantaged and the rest of us dig deeper and/or sacrifice some. Why are you so unwilling to give up even the smallest bit of yours to help your community? You're basically telling the starving kid that yes they can have some food just after your kids have eaten their fill.
While we don't have the resources to give everyone everything they want, we do have the resources to have school for all kids who want to go to school. School is not a limited resource that needs to be rationed. Having school is a question of will, not of resources. My kids need to go to school for the same reason every kid (except yours, from what you say) needs to go to school.
Um yeah, we do have limited resources because we are in the middle of a freaking pandemic! We don't have the staff, the space, the busses, the money. Sure my kids need school ultimately but they can do ok while we get through the pandemic! This isn't forever.
We have the same staff, space, buses, and money we had last year. Well, maybe not money. Now all we need is a plan to apply the most effective mitigation measures consistent with opening school. It's nice if your kids can do ok even if they miss school for year. Most kids can't.
