Over the last few years, the best teams in the area have been SJC, GZ, Prep, Landon and Bullis.

They all play each other every year. With the exception of SJC. SJC seems to play only one of the IAC teams every year. It’s bold to say they won’t lose another DMV game for the rest of the decade. But also highlights how lame SJC fans are for touting their local prowess without playing the other top tier teams in the DMV annually.

And agree with the above…watch out for GC in the next few years.

PVI swept GZ in 2023 and beat both Bullis and Landon last time they played each other.

I hope for PVI sake they pull that off again. If not, they better start looking at the incoming classes.

I'm not convinced SJC would have beat Prep last Spring. And the way Landon was playing the final weeks of the season, I'm certain the Bears would have rolled over the Cadets last year too.

The Lil Hoyas 2023 team was pretty damn talented. We probably won't see an attack line of the caliber of Burns and Kabari in a very long time. Prep was ranked #1 in the DMV for a reason that year by several leading publications. The only people who think otherwise are the SJC homers living off the merits of the 2022 team (another very elite team)

Urick keeping it simple is why they lost last year. He thought his returning guys were the same as Kabiri and Burns and they weren't. They are more similar to Bullis' club lacrosse offense than one that actually works at a top high school level. GP is as thin as they have ever been.

Let me guess. An angry Prep dad whose kid didn’t play much? Sounds like inside information.
Every offensive player on the field is a DI commit.
Scott will keep it simple and out coach everyone.

You are kidding right? One attack and the fogo might be the only returning offensive players with commitments. If you are referring to the 24's, then all those d1's underperformed losing to a mid miaa, gonzaga, one excellent team and 2 blowout losses to Landon.

Seriously? I’m not even a prep dad and know that between 2025/2026 there are 6 committed D1 kids on the roster and there are three 2026 poles that are very good players that will be committed by thanksgiving. That makes 9. Pretty solid. This site is nothing but haters who’s kids didn’t make the cut.

Doesn't matter how many commits GP has on its roster. Last Spring, their 2024 class had a number of high profile signees (Hopkins Middie, Georgetown Attackman, Maryland signee etc.) but the team underperformed as a whole. Whether it it was subpar coaching, individual hero ball, over-hyped players, or all of the above. GP graduated a ton of seniors last year. Their 20205 class is GOOD, not great and their 2026 class is rather thin.

The question is on midfield and attack. Inside Lacrosse isn't completely up to date but it usually is for seniors. Besides the attack and fogo, where are the commits on the short stick side.

Yeah this might be Preps thinnest team in recent memory.

Landon will be the best Private again in 2025 in the DMV.

Please!

Bears will be good but SJC will be in a league of their own this Spring.

Landon better not sleep on Bullis either.

Gonzaga is going to be way down

If Bullis doesn’t figure out the coaching, the talent won’t matter.

Bullis without a coach and goalie has no chance. They pretty much return the same group and didn't get it done last year. Nothing will change except the Bears will roll them again and if the Little Hoyas don't get any offense other than the 5* they too will get rolled by the Bears.

Doesn't Prep return the big senior middie committed to Cuse for football / lax?

The 2026 attackman is very dynamic and reminds me of Kabari (likely not as good but plays similar). Hoyas will have some pieces like they always do but it will boil down on whether they can put it all together.

GP graduated 2x4*'s and is replacing them with 1 5*. They also lost an excellent fogo and will replace him with 2 okay fogo's. I don't see how it adds up to a better team unless the returning poles can hold teams to under 7 goals.

Landon graduated 3 d1 short sticks and is replacing them with 3 d1 short sticks plus they are returning all their poles. Landon also has much more depth than the rest of the IAC.

Bullis has firepower but no goalie, little depth and a lot of players who don't want to acknowledge they should be giving the ball even more often to their attack and get out of the way. Poles are their weak point but shouldn't matter if they avoid hero ball.

SSSAS, EHS and STA will be fighting for 4th place once again. Couple of players on each team doesn't add up to wins against the top 3.

Good assessment, thanks for doing this
