and Yes many of them are good athletes.

GP has good academics but will deviate from their "high standards" for exceptional athletes.

GP might have some exceptions, but the WCAC has dozens of these exceptions per class spread across every sport and demographic.

I know a player at Prep that had his grades changed so he would be able to stay at Prep. The academic results for some are suspect.

The defense will be the problem, replacing the CUSE goalie will be a tall order and offense is suspect at the midfield as 3 of the middies listed above have no offensive skills and play SSDM and attack must get the ball which was not what happen last year. They also have no depth.

Predictions:

Landon
Prep
Bullis
EHS
SSSA
STA

Bullis had all the same players last year plus a goalie and Walker and couldn’t get it done. I give the IAC Championship to Prep.

Prep’s offense will be the difference maker. They return too much for the IAC defenses. Urick is keeping it simple and allowing his horses to make plays in 6on6. Little Hoyas will drop one or two in the regular season, but will not lose to the same team twice.

u

Prep is not a well coached team.

Urick has assembled a JV coaching staff and will like last year they will be out coached in the big games.

Urick keeping it simple is why they lost last year. He thought his returning guys were the same as Kabiri and Burns and they weren't. They are more similar to Bullis' club lacrosse offense than one that actually works at a top high school level. GP is as thin as they have ever been.

Prediction: The Gonzaga win against SJC last year will be the only win by a DMV team against SJC in the 2020s when all is said and done.

Over the last few years, the best teams in the area have been SJC, GZ, Prep, Landon and Bullis.

They all play each other every year. With the exception of SJC. SJC seems to play only one of the IAC teams every year. It’s bold to say they won’t lose another DMV game for the rest of the decade. But also highlights how lame SJC fans are for touting their local prowess without playing the other top tier teams in the DMV annually.

And agree with the above…watch out for GC in the next few years.

PVI swept GZ in 2023 and beat both Bullis and Landon last time they played each other.

PVI has never played Bullis in a regular spring season match up. Would be nice if they did play. The have not even scrimmaged but did play once a few years ago in the fall at a play day and Bullis lost.
