Adding women to the draft?

I guess my question is, why shouldn't women be drafted?

I'm a women, btw.

If women can’t be drafted, then no one should be drafted.

And yes women have to be included.

Yes, women have to be included. You cannot demand that women have access to all jobs in the military without a draft of both genders. --military family with daughters

Many women haven’t demanded it. So… no.

Are you kidding? It has been demanded by the people we vote for "on behalf of women/equity". The military has spent the past 15-20 years re-gearing for women and transgendered persons. Have you been under a rock? So yes, draft for all.

Thank you for your service! I agree with this even though I personally would not want to have been in it. I think it's only fair if we want equal rights. Israel does it.

I’m all for it when I get equal pay.
I’m all for it when the military can prove that my daughter won’t be assaulted and harassed while serving.
TIA

This is an absurd and self serving position. Do all men get "equal pay"? What does that even mean to you? The second point is also ridiculous. You did your daughter's current profession or school give you proof that she wouldn't be harassed or assaulted before she began? I bet not.

Look you want a societal good? Then society needs to put up or shut up.
There is nothing absurd about “women’s work” being intrinsically undervalued. I work in the arts and live it every day.
Thr military’s record of treatment of women is horrendous. They can clean their house, if they want to welcome women in.
Also, you equated forced service to a choice of employment and education.
Women get to choose a campus they feel safe on. They can leave a job if harassed.
Your comparison is ridiculous.

100 Percent Correct. Well said, PP.

Look the draft is basically enslavement. You get no choice. It is inherently unequal to only draft men specially when women can vote. Women can vote to send men to fight and die with no risk of themselves having to fight and die. Women also would not lose two years of their lives. If you want to be treated as equal you lose your privilege of choice. Men do not get to choose and women do not get to choose. It’s a draft.

Women are not exempted for the draft because of sexual assault or paid issue in society. Women are exempt because of misogyny. Women are thought of as incapable of fighting in a war, physical the weak and needing protection of men. This is why women are nit include in the draft.

Another point is from the recent Afghanistan war. Many women feel the US should continue to fight in Afghanistan for women rights. These same women refuse(or choose not) to actually enlist and go to war. They also do not want their daughters doing it. They want to sent others really just men to fight for there cause. If you have no skin in the game you will continue to send men to fight and die while you remain safe at home.

Women claim they want equality, but when it really comes down to it, 'equality' for women equates to ONLY having equal representation amongst the most highest paying, white collar office jobs/tech available. Nowhere do you hear crying from women that we need more gender equality when it comes to workplace deaths due to hazardous jobs (>90% of which are men). No where do you hear women crying for equal representation for blue collar and other very dangerous/very dirty jobs. Many women don't even want to be equally registered for the the selective service like a man. It is total hypocrisy. Women don't want equality. They just want the best of the best only.

Ah some great “many people are saying” here in this post.
Let’s stick with truths and facts, and not dabble in how you suspect other women might feel and think.
Women are physically weaker than men. That’s ok. There may be jobs that they aren’t suited for.

Also love how these people always claim women don’t do dirty jobs… tell that to the daycare workers, nurses, and eldercare workers (the majority of whom are women) who LITERALLY clean up pee, poop, vomit, and blood every day. And have to be gentle and NICE while doing so. And making less money than men doing “dirty” jobs. 🙄

DP. Great point.

I'm pro all citizens in the draft. Women have been doing dirty work since time immemorial. We can handle dangerous work, too.

What a misogynistic post pp. There may be jobs women are not suited for? Wow! I guess you think men should be paid more if they are supporting a family? Let me guess you think of yourself as a feminist? Women have and continue to fight in wars. They can do the job just as well as men. There is no reason for US women to be exempt from the draft.

There has never been a cause that I'd want to send my DH, father, sons, uncles to die for. If they choose to, fine. But not forced to.

What are you smoking? Women have encumbered the lowest paid and dirty jobs since the beginning of time. My grandmother, great aunts and uncles worked in factories. My mother a low paid nurse who wiped peoples' a$$es. Those are just a couple of examples from my own life.

Where do you draw the line? Should POC be exempt from the draft? What about someone who can trace their ancestry to slaves? What about first generation immigrant? What about families who are below the poverty line? What about Jews, Chinese, Japanese, etc…all have been devalued and still are today.
