Adding women to the draft?

Thank you for your service! I agree with this even though I personally would not want to have been in it. I think it's only fair if we want equal rights. Israel does it.

I’m all for it when I get equal pay.
I’m all for it when the military can prove that my daughter won’t be assaulted and harassed while serving.
TIA

Military pay is equal for genders. Harassment laws have been toughened up. Good to go.

No. You want all women to serve, all women need equal pay. No more undervaluing “the work of women”.

There’s no reason to have a draft. It would be a disaster. The modern military is much more technical and specialized than in the draft era. You would waste billions of dollars training people who are counting the days til they get out. Better to recruit and train and pay people who have the interest and aptitude to stay and excel. Also better not to have 20-year occupations with uncertain missions.

Sorry does nit work that way. Should we tie the vote to military service?

+1. And if we did, I would college/grad school/PHD my kid out until they aged out. Or have them sign up for JAG or something.

One doesn't just "sign up for JAG."

Yep the draft deferment is no longer a thing. Your kid in college/grad school would have same chances as the high school drop out. The drafted do not have the option to pick their MOS. Most will go to combat units as replacements.

A. There will never be a draft.
B. If there were going to be one, you could enlist to something safe ahead of time. But it matters not because - see above.

In fact it currently does work that way. Women are decades behind in equal pay.
Is it as antiquated as women not serving? Sure.
You’ll have to fix both if you want traction on this.

Sorry, but it's the 21st century. If you want equality, you get it all - good and bad. Seems to work for the Israeli Defense Forces, so why not here in the US? Perhaps we would be less inclined to start or get involved in foreign wars?

Cool, so should young men not have to register, either?

They allow “alternative service” for conscientious objectors.

It’s a requirement for political reasons. It should be eliminated but it’s not a burden on anyone.

Men must register. It is against the law not to do so. Men cannot be employed by the federal government if they did not register.

In the event of a draft, biological men can self-identify as female, change their sex on identification forms (without physically transitioning), and apply to be exempted from the draft. Per the Selective Service System:

In the event of a resumption of the draft, individuals born male who have changed their gender to female can file a claim for an exemption from military service if they receive an order to report for examination or induction.
