Nine Perfect Strangers - Hulu

Same.

yes! DH and I were actually commenting that they look like false teeth. It makes her entire face look a little off or strange.

She has very quirky “Alexis from schitts creek” moments.

Agree. It's distracting. In the scene where she's talking to Melissa McCarthy by the pool in episode 2, I kept thinking it was Alexis.

YAS! I said the same thing to DH. She was doing an imitation of Alexis...it was weird.

Definitely a poor casting choice.

This show has become so bad that it’s comical. What is the mixed racial couple there for? Is there a single plot written for them? This is so incredibly cheesy. I have the sense there were rewrites and edits up until the air date. It’s like watching a show that was dubbed into English.

It’s my guilty pleasure. Really enjoying it. Plus, Regina Hall.

I was really enjoying it for the first several episodes but I think the storyline has gotten really weak these last few episodes. I do agree about Regina Hall. Love her in everything and honestly I find her storyline the most intriguing on this show.

Just popped on this thread to see what the current reviews were. I couldn't get through the first episode and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I won't go back to it.

I think you missed parts of several episodes. They were working class high school sweethearts. The DH won the lottery and it ruined their lives. Which is something that does happen to people. The material wealth didn’t make them happy. And the wife became very insecure about her appearance. They are the only characters that don’t annoy me.

I want to watch Xanadu now.

It's picked way back up. But I love the cast, scenery and music, etc. (I didn't love the book so my expectations were low)

They didn't move it to California, it was always supposed to be shot in LA and then a week away from building the sets there was some sort of issue (probably COVID related) that prevented them from moving forward in LA. The switch to fiming in Australia was very last minute.

I mean the story. In the book it takes place in Australia. Just like Big Little Lies. Are Americans really so insular and narcissistic that we'll only watch a show set in the US?

I'm distracted by Nicole Kidman - in this and in Big Little Lies. I can't get past the wigs, thinness, and plastic surgery to appreciate her acting but I suppose that says more about me than her. The intensity of her look is actually consistent with her character. But sometimes I think, do we have to give every role to her?

She's a good actress, but has way too much editorial control over her projects, and her artistic instincts are not very good, tbh. She should cede control over production and just go back to acting.

Again, she's casted that way for a reason. She's exactly like the character in the book.

She’s annoyingly perfect. Or perfectly annoying. Either way, perfectly cast.

This show should be renamed to David Kelley Needs a Check.

Except for Nicole Kidman, it sucks.

She's awful in this.
