USWNT Game 5 Spoiler 🚨

Canada wins on the lamest PK call I’ve seen, but the US were far from deserving. Despite dominating possession they rarely looked threatening. Two close headers. That’s it. No credible threat up top. Lavelle played horribly. Horan was lazy. Davidson lacking. Sauerbraun with poor distribution all game. Press with tunnel vision. Morgan with no moves and inability to head. Rapinoe and Lloyd, just too darn old. Mewis was a ghost. Only Dunn and Ertz played well the entire tourney, but Ertz is also slow now.

Other thought is that all the Euro lovers were wrong. 3 of 4 final teams were outside of Europe. Having said that Sweden does look the best, but could lose like the US if they don’t pay attention.

Yes there are no players on any of those 3 teams that played in Europe. Absolutely none from the US Canada game.

FW Janine Beckie Manchester City (ENG)
FW Adriana Leon West Ham (ENG)
MF Jessie Fleming Chelsea FC (ENG)
DF Ashley Lawrence Paris Saint-Germain (FRA)
DF Shelina Zadorsky Tottenham Hotspur (ENG)
DF Vanessa GIlles Girondins Bordeaux (FRA)
DF Kadeisha Buchanan Olympique Lyonnais (FRA)
GK Stephanie Labbe FC Rosengard (SWE)

Dahlkemper Man City
Heath Man U
Press Man U
Lavelle Man City
Macario Lyonnais
S. Mewis Man City
Morgan Tottenham Hotspur

Lavelle is the class of the US players. The problem is she gets the ball at midfield instead of the final 1/3. This is the US coach’s fault.

I think Lavelle is fantastic. She could stand to gain a little bit muscle, but perhaps that would slow her speed.

Some changes need to be made but I thought the coaching logic is very poor.

Don't worry. After this failure, Rapinoe, Morgan and the rest of aging crew will be out of the team in no time. They need young hungry players that are fully focused on the sport. The big question is whether our pipeline has enough of talent to fill in the openings. Lavelle, Horan and Macario will be the new core, but we need to add more young talent.

So you don't support the Sweden team's current debate on whether they will play in the final because of not being paid fairly? If they decide not to play how does that work with your view?

Also, I love that PP thinks the players should be "fully focused" on their jobs, while likely posting on DCUM when they're supposed to be working.

I am not aware of any big issues within Sweden team, but if they decide not to play in the final because they are not treated properly by their Federation, I am fine with it. Any team that refuses a shot on the title will generate a lot of publicity for their issue. I don't think it will happen because they agreed to represent their country in this tournament and are doing so with dignity and pride. I don't see any entitled prima donnas, but I see a united squad that is focused on winning and is ready to fight for their country. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj2B8LmOeYs

I dated a Canadian and a Swede and they both could take a knee really well. Kidding ... only kidding.

I love that two olds scored, if only to annoy people on this thread. Especially since one of them has purple hair.
