“The Critical Race Theory fight in schools is thoroughly astroturfed.” Heritage doing it in DMV too?

What you are really asking for is a definition of crt implemented in schools today. The equity collaborative, the company schools hire for equity training and coaching has a very succinct ppt on the topic: https://theequitycollaborative.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Intro-To-Critical-Race-Theory.pdf.

Plenty of people know. Just not the ones hollering about it on Fox News etc.

Our DCPS school spent a week in February teaching the DC Black Lives Matter in Schools Week of Action “curriculum.” To my 2nd grader. Let that sink in. They are teaching my 2nd grader to taken”action” without asking my permission. This is indoctrination and what you’d expect from China or Russia. It is frightening.

NP. This stuff does make me consider pulling my DD out of DCPS. CRT is an ideology that promotes divisiveness and judgment of other based on skin color, not content of character.

If you it is bad to teach kids that racism was a core tenant of the founding of our country, then, yes please do pull your kids out of DCPS so my kids do not have to go to school with uneducated yokels who do not know or want to know that slavery existed, segregation existed, the Supreme Court once said that "separate but equal" was acceptable.

Yawn. No one in my family is an “uneducated yokel.” I graduated with honors from a top 3 law school and have lived in DC for 2 decades. Also, I’ve never voted Republican.

Your insults don’t impress anyone. Responses based in substance are more interesting and valuable.

You and I are how we know that CRT is not supported by very many people. I'm a left-leaning Dem and I think CRT/wokeness is awful.

So what if it is an astroturf movement?

Do people who pay property taxes to support local schools have no right to an opinion, unless they actually have kids in those schools?

I contact my local school board about various issues on a regular basis, even though my kids are in private schools. We live in this community, we pay taxes to support the schools and - therefore - have just as much of a right to speak about issues involving these schools as anyone else.

No you don't. Just like even though your private school gets a tax break because it is a non-profit and that makes my taxes go up, I do not have a say in what that school teaches your kids. We all pay taxes for plenty of things that we do not have that micro level of control over

PP literally does "have just as much of a right to speak about issues involving these schools as anyone else."

If you think that is indoctrination please take your kids out of DCPS. Schools don't have to ask permission about everything they teach kids, think of the chaos that would result in.

So you don't think teaching and encouraging 7 year olds to be activists is indoctrination? How woke are you?

Interesting that you ignored my substantive argument to make your argument that I was not making an argument in substance. And yes I know the difference between tenant and tenet, I made a typo. Clearly you and the other PP have taken internet trolling 101 by only focusing on my typo and my insults. You missed a typo in the first part, by the way; I left out the word "think." I also know that slavery was racist and pretending the civil war was based on states rights doesn't make it so.

The laws against critical race theory are dangerous not because they stop CRT from being taught in elementary schools but because they are written in a way that could stop teachers from teaching anything about race at all. The same thing happened when Trump had his executive order against certain types of diversity training. If you read the text of his order it is not enormously controversial but it had a chilling effect on any diversity training as the threats of lawsuits and costs of compliance were too onerous for some companies to deal with. This will be even more true for teachers- if you think you might get sued because something you taught might be in violation of a poorly written law you are likely to go too far the other way and just not teach anything about the racist past of this country.

Also, I have voted republican in the past, not sure what your point of mentioning that is (do you think anyone who votes for republicans is an uneducated yokel?); I am able to use critical thinking skills that I learned in my top 1 law school (even though I don't think the fact that I graduated from a top law school means anything as you do) to evaluate candidates based on their positions rather than their parties.

If a non-controversial order chilled diversity training then the problem was with the training, not the order.

CTR is niche and a unless you are in law school would never come in contact with.

The whole hysteria over CRT is because the rightwing needs something to divide us and what better way then scaring white folks that little Johnny’s feelings might get hurt when he learns that our country was literally built on the backs of enslaved people and that the founding fathers were hypocrites. I’m not sure WHY parents would think learning truth is bad.

None, zero of the school board legislation will hold, and it’s not meant to. All of this is to whip up the base, peel off suburban parents so GOP can take back the House.

Think about it: in four years we’ve had
radical ISIS who were coming to behead us
Caravans of drug dealing immigrants (who mysteriously disappeared after Nov 2018
Radical, socialist Democrats
Now CTR.

Honestly how do people keep falling for this right wing divide and conquer hysteria?
