Metropolitan DC Local Politics
I think DCUM will see thousands more troll posts against CRT this summer. I would not be surprised if paying a troll farm to generate posts is part of an AstroTurf campaign. |
I'm a Democrat and I started the long reparations thread on DCUM last summer. At that time, I had read a piece in the NYT. Then, I heard Dr. William Darity on NPR and read his book. I agree that the GOP is a bunch of losers and frequently riles up their base, but that one was me (at least on DCUM).
That was June - July. Maybe a little before election season... |
CRT is racist because it makes mass race based generalizations, which is racism. And only whites can be racist, which is a racist, ignorant and hateful statement. Soon they'll be teaching how to be antisemites in school. |
| This thread is not thoughtful. Some of you deserve to have kids who grow up terrified of expressing themselves and not seeing each other as individuals, but rather simply as members of groups of oppressed and oppressor racial and ethnic groups. |

Very relevant podcast re: CRT - worth a listen:
https://cafe.com/now-and-then/battling-over-critical-race-theory/ Kimberlé Crenshaw (archival): Critical race theory just says, let’s pay attention to what has happened in this country and how what has happened in this country is continuing to create differential outcomes so we can become that country that we say we are. There is more good stuff - I can post more later. But give it a listen. |

DP, but quite the opposite. You're clueless. The existence of successful Black men is not proof that we do not live in a system with disparate impacts on outcomes, just as the existence of cold days in December are not proof that global climate change isn't real. |
What is CRT? Please define it. |
DP. That's really a question of you using a search engine and sorting through appropriate, unbiased definitions. |
| However it gets translated, if at all, into curricula, most wealthy white parents of all political persuasions will just shrug, tell their kids to pretend to care, check off the boxes, move onto an "elite" college, take advantage of privilege and connections, and buy a house in a predominantly white suburb. In reality, CRT would meaningfully challenge/question a system that lets this happen so easily. |
Exactly. We Whites will "pretend to care" but we don't because CRT is nonsense and irrelevant to a solid education in order to succeed. We aren't going to change and we have the means to see that we don't. |
Thanks, but the point is this exercise was to demonstrate that the PP doesn't actually know what CRT is. |
In the meantime, this takes time from things students actually need to learn. Like actual history, reading, mathematics, science and the like. |
Astroturf = activity that purports to be grassroots but isn't. It's not a new expression. I remember it going back to the rise of the Tea Party, but maybe it goes back further. |
Please provide your definition of CRT. Also please provide your definition of "we whites". |
