+1 Well said. WTF to the bolded. |
Do NOT move to Chevy Chase. Pence did for a few months, which resulted in protests, dance parties, and rainbow flags. |
+1. Don’t talk politics, religion, or finances. |
Look at how areas vote (hint: Trump signs unwelcome in DC). |
| My mom talks about not being “woke”. I don’t know anyone who goes around talking about being woke, and I’m a minority. The people using the word woke to me seem to have a chip on their shoulder and bitter about something. My mother frankly is racist and I’ve heard her say all sorts of heinous stuff about minorities so if you’d like company like that, she lives in Potomac. |
I talk about the downfalls of wokeness all the time. I've voted D in every election since I was 18. I work in human rights. I'm married to an immigrant and I am Hispanic. Aversion to cult wokeness is not limited to white Trumpers living in the boonies. |
Don't know what "GQP" stands for. It wasn't in the first post and I didn't read the entire thread. I assume it doesn't mean "General Quality of Parks". We do have Riverbend and Great Falls park which is a nice perk. |

Your first issue will simply be affording a place. The biggest shock for people moving here is the price of real estate. Your budget, not your politics, is going to be the main determining factor.
And, yes, Trump signs were shocking to see in our upper NW DC neighborhood, especially after Charlottesville. After 1/6 I saw zero Trump signs. There are some conservatives in the neighborhood, lots of Catholics who send their kids to Blessed Sacrament, etc., but no one I know who actually lives in the city was able turn a blind eye to Trump's damage to the country after the January insurrection. |
QAnon. |
It doesn't sound like you want diversity if you aren't willing to listen to anyone who you deem too "woke" And how can we tell you where you will be comfortable in? It isn't like we know everyone in DC! I live in an area very Liberal but, I keep my opinions to myself, even if I agree with them. There is plenty to talk about without mentioning politics! |
That's a weird abbreviation. There aren't any "p"s in that word. I don't know any Q Anon people so no, he's safe from that here lol. |
NP. Maybe that's GOP + QAnon - now that QAnon has taken over the Republican party? |
+1. The piece of the GOP that’s gone full QAnon/ Big Lie, as opposed to the traditional conservative wing. Traditional conservatives are outnumbered in Fairfax County, but it’s fine. Agree to disagree and move on. Plenty of old school GOP I like and respect. Kids are friends, don’t talk politics, it’s fine. After 1/6, Trump supporters aren’t welcome. Full stop. Really, after C-vile I had a friend in the Capitol. Many of us had connections. The National Guard taking over the city has been awful. These people are dangerous and violent and crazy. They are white super sits who threaten my Asian neighbors. So, no I can’t peacefully co-exist with them. I’m woke. They are cancelled. Whatever. They have done so much damage. So many people have died. The fact OP is looking for Trump and Biden supporters to just get along tells he doesn’t belong in Fairfax Co. |
| No OP, it won’t. You need to be looking in the South if that’s what you want. |
DC is a democratic town, but it's not Portland. It's funny b/c I find DC to be rather conservative in many ways. I don't consider DC to be that "woke". |
