‘Shtisel’ Season 3 Arriving on Netflix in Late March 2021.. Countdown!!!

Just watched first episode (no spoilers here). Was not happy with the plot twist, as I loved that story line. Anyways, such a good show.

Just want to say to a PP that I am not Jewish or know anything about this subculture, but I don't feel like I'm "gawking"--I feel like I'm learning about another culture. And how they deal with universally human issues. BTW to pick up on another PP's comment, I loved My Brilliant Friend, where I learned about both Italian culture and a Naples local subculture.

If you like Crash Landing, I recommend Chocolate. It is a beautiful K-drama. Can be cheesy at times, but such a beautiful exploration of love, life, food, and death. I am a total Chocolate Stan. I want more DCUMers to watch it so we can talk about it!

This sums it up so well.

I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen the first episode yet, but when can we discuss it? I'm eager to see everyone's thoughts on it!

ha ha! It's only been out for a matter of hours! When you can't take it anymore, make a post and make it obvious that we are now entering into Episode 1 discussion spoiler alert! I'll be ready to comment!

I was the PP who mentioned gawking. I definitely don't see all or even most of the Shtisel fan base that way. As I said, it is a portion. I absolutely love that Shtisel has such a diverse fan base and that so many non-Jews and non-Orthodox Jews find it relatable and universal. Please don't feel self-conscious about enjoying it and I'm sorry if my remark made you feel that way.

But there is also an audience segment out there who loves what I can best describe as "ultra-Orthodox outrage porn." Shtisel is not at all that type of show, but it attracts some of that crowd because it depicts ultra-Orthodox Jews.

I tried to watch this and really thought it would appeal to me but I can’t get into it. I think I just don’t like the main character. His face is attractive but he just lacks confidence and drive. Idk. I’ll keep watching though.

I have watched it and as a Catholic I wonder what Jewish people think? I like the lead character’s dad- is it realistic he supports his grown children and their families?

Omg, I just finished the first episode. Ahhhh! I love this show too much.

Hahaha.. lately I bumped into a term "toxic positivity"...
PP.. I think that this show is not promising just everything to be happy peppy pink with ribbons and this is why most people like it. It is normal simple life that many crave to see as most of the modern shows and movies are OVERLOADED in action, movement, speed, chases, fast paced dialogues and flipping scenes.
There is certain slowness to this show that lets you think and reflect and does not rush your process.
This is a welcome break from the speed of life on and off screen and I find it healing.

Not everything has to be super positive, not every character has to be overly confident and has to have a drive.. life is such.

New to this thread and show. I started watching seeing the raves here. I knew nothing about the actors/show before starting and figured out right away Akiva was probably a hot guy under the the hair with those piercing and brooding eyes and googled him to see. Sure enough! Thanks for the recommendation

Such different series yet the people who like one would like the other for sure. Both have been written and acted by fantastic storytellers and actors.
