Leadership refused to take accountability for anything but yet expected the kids to do so? I wish the organization well because I know many parents have stayed to ride it out. We moved on.

Do go into more details on this one? Was this the Carolina or Midnight team? What was the fallout from that meeting? I have a 2026 looking to switch clubs and would love more details on this.

One other question - where are you now?

The meeting involved both Carolina and Midnight. One year Carolina did not have a coach but then they found a great one. Then the next year Midnight did not have a coach. All the while they had two parents who had been coaching the girls through MC prior to that but for whatever reason MC wanted to hire paid coaches for the team. They had secured a young recent college graduate to coach the team but then she could not make her schedule work. Then it was a bit of a round and round with coaches. Then the meeting where they had printed out information about the organization very seriously telling us all about how important the organization was in establishing lax for girls in the county. They pretty much went on and on about what a big deal they are, how great the coaches are and that our girls just aren't serious enough and that is the issue. It was such a poorly done meeting I left shocked. I compared it to work meetings and thought "did that just happen"? Then I felt bad for the people who work with or for an organization with such leadership. The attitude from the top is important. Much like a head master or principal at a school. That meeting sealed the deal for us. We left and went to Bethesda along with some other girls and we could not be happier. The coaches of 2026 at Bethesda are AMAZING. They both coach high school and set high expectations. Some on this board will be quick to point out that BLC 2026 plays in the B division of NGLL but I don't care one bit. The girls get better every single day and are really growing under great leadership.

Where do you plan to play for high school?

As for the rest of this thread, can someone pass me the popcorn?

Good read here. This makes the usual Pride/Stars threads look like childs play compared to this movie.

"Where do you plan to play for high school?"

Families with girls at Bethesda will presumably try out for CLC which starts in HS (hence the MC Dad putting in a preemptive "strike" in his post about that program as well . . .)

And if they don't make Capital ...MC will be waiting with open arms because they will have lost their best to Capital...isn't that what happened in the Fall?

That is exactly what happened. Half of 24 Midnight left for one of the 2 Capital teams.

I am PP who left MC and went to BLC. Curious your thoughts on how making the B team at Capital compares with MC A team? Just wondering...if you don't make Capital A should you try for MC A? Or is Capital B better than anything MC? I guess it definitely varies year to year but just trying to gauge for when we get to that stage.

For recruiting, typically it is better to be the best player on a team's only team that may be a 'B+" team than to be on the bench of an 'A' team - which is what we ultimately did for DD. No matter if you are the best player on 'B', you are behind all of the girls on 'A'. And once you hit high school it can be difficult to move between teams.

It really comes down to coaching and the admin. You need someone that will go to bat for you and also puts you in the right brackets for tournaments, etc. We felt MC was not that and it has worked out for us. She likes her coaches and teammates much more.

Thanks and glad it worked out for your family

Just a heads up that this was before BLC went through middle school....but yes you can count on people from everywhere trying out for Capital and if they make it great if not the old clubs will still be there....

SO To summarize (lol....)
1. Most parents think their own club is better than all the others. Totally fine. You picked the club that was best for your child.

2. There are different problems/issues at all clubs. Every club has been through it and been targeted in these posts at some point. Players leave because they aren’t happy and parents post about their experiences. Why else would they leave. And players switch all the time in MS. It’s a rotating cast of characters and by HS everyone pretty much stays put because college coaches hate club hoppers.

3. Most of it comes down to 7/8th parents scrambling for HS spots. BLC is out of it at that point with no HS teams. If you are the top BLC player on your team you might make a Capital A team or a Baltimore team, will definitely make MC and other A teams at travel clubs. Next step down would be Next Level and they don’t really make cuts. If for some reason you don’t make any of those there’s really nowhere to go. Tough to make a HS varsity team at a private school if you don’t play Club. A little easier at public HS for JV but harder for Varsity.

4. We all have been stuck inside with COVID for too long and sound like crazy people on this thread. Yikes!!

In fairness, has there been much posted about the problems at M&D, Pride, Hero’s, Skywalkers. I guess for some you could say distance.

Anyone?

Pretty much lol - except I would say as one of the PPs there are definitely multiple people on this thread with similar opinions on one particular club and that can't be for nothing - but yes everyone has to do what is right for their kid - also very good point that you don't hear any of this stuff about the Baltimore clubs - I think people are so happy to be on those teams they don't dare say a word about them or maybe they are just that well run

Moving from one MoCo club to a Baltimore Club, the difference in the way the overall clubs are run is night and day. And we noticed almost immediately. And we couldn't be happier with the change. I will say we're lucky with the team we're on too, but the leadership of the club is top notch.

It's hilarious you all think you don't hear this stuff about Baltimore clubs. Check 'Back of the Cage' Maryland forum. Want a real treat? Read up on the main forum and the Long Island teams

Many people hate the guy that runs Skywalkers, many (including myself) think he is great. And don't get me started on CR at M&D.

There just isn't the same forum/outlet like this one for the Baltimore clubs.
