“Compete” means to be competitive - not get blown out in every game. I understand BLC went 1-7. That is not competitive. NL did not play BLC this year but did beat them in the finals of a tournament in the Fall of 2019. The question was not comparing NL to BLC - there is plenty of threads on that subject which has been exhausted as far as I am concerned.

I said in my opinion they would be less than 4-4. They would not beat pride, or any of the teams better than pride, but I have no idea about the bottom teams in the division which is why I was asking how they compared to a 1-7 team, not rehashing the BLC/NL issue just using it as a point of reference.

Having watched Crush, they are good, but mainly driven by the 2 middies. Having also played NL, I think they would compete just fine in the A bracket, but hard to say if they'd go 4-4 or 5-3 etc (didn't watch every game etc). Their middies are also very strong with some other players as well. The bottom 6 in the A division for 28 aren't any better than the top 5 in the B division imo.

How many players do you think Heros or M&D add in an offseason?

Maybe 1-3.

How many are coming from B teams? None that I have seen but I guess it can happen

The younger the team, the more movement that will occur. Going to be hard to make either 26 Heros team or the 27 green team, but 27 white definitely will look to improve.

Also, there will be Black and Red for M&D through 2027 and potentially 2028 and 2029 IF there is enough interest. The younger the girl, the better chance she has.

--------------------

This is good advice and input. It really depends on the player - do you they want to be the star on a B level team, be closer to home, and play with already-established friends. Or does she like the idea of playing with a full team of players closer in ability, maybe it is further, and have to be open to making new "lacrosse friends." It is tough, because it gets harder to move each year, so the player/family have to decide sometimes sooner than one would expect. It is really year dependent also. 26 M&D has no red team yet, but assume at some point will vs Hero's 26 has two really strong teams. Just a year difference - at 27 - may look different.

Anonymous wrote:What is incredibly frustrating is that most if not all of these strong players at BLC, NL, etc (some even went to Hero's, Pride, Rebels) all started at MC Elite. The disfunction there led to the scattering of everyone all over. Terrible that they had the talent but couldn't run an organization that people wanted to stay in. Now we are all dealing with the fallout.

This x100!

This is not true for NL. Not in the slightest.

Don't think this was meant as a slight to NL at all; more of a commentary on MC Elite . . .

Agree 100% on this. This is why some of the "B" bracket teams are where they are and why some may be incomplete. girls would rather play with friends, closer to their area etc. Not everyone is able or wants to go to the Heros/M&D before the HS level, especially if those players are coming from the DMV teams etc. I'm surprised that M&D wouldn't have a "red" team at the 26 age level. Does that mean a lot of girls just don't make M&D and go to other clubs, ie why Heros White is so strong?

For that particular year - 26 - it is not that they don’t make M&D; but that they don’t want to go there and don’t try out. So Hero’s White 26 grew strong and has never lost to M&D this year. Created 2 “A” teams within one program that year.

All so year dependent with each team having its own personality.

It’s also not possible without excellent coaching. Some clubs don’t invest in coaching their B teams. Hero’s seems to be an exception.

Agreed. Also, Hero White's 26 goalie is probably one of the top 3 in MD at her age group.

M&D has said they expect a 2026 and 2027 Red team. I know they had a roster posted for 2027 red last year, but only 14 girls. I guess they didn't want to pull down a couple girls from Black to Red in order to have two teams. They are expecting the interest/numbers this year to be able to field two teams through 2027 and also the younger years as well if they have the interest. Another thing is M&D and Hero's tryouts don't overlap this year so girls can tryout for both... Should be interesting to see how it shakes out.

Anyone know where M&D teams usually practice?

It depends... their practice schedule is posted on the M&D site, but you shouldn't necessarily assume that's what you can expect. They (as I'm sure many other clubs) have had a hard time securing fields to practice on due to Covid/high schools playing later in the spring than normal. But you can assume Howard County Parks/Schools, and Baltimore County as well. In previous years they were often at Western Regional Park or Glenelg High School (which is fairly convenient for MoCo)... But this summer it's almost exclusively at Garrison Forest or Howard County Center for the Arts.

Thank you, that is helpful!

That M&D Red 27 team was a S show, total money grab. I’m not sure they won a game. Heck my 3rd grader had to play them in a tournament and only lost by 7. They rightfully dissolved either by parents moving on or by staff realizing you can’t have a B team for the sake of a B team.

That seems to be the case for "most" programs at the younger levels from what I've seen. The Pride white, Skywalkers White teams are way worse than rec teams. They are just taking money and have no business playing in NGLL. Makes sense if the Red 27s were the same.
