Girls Clubs in Bethesda Area

M&D's problem especially at youth levels is that they have huge rosters and very unequal playing time. Lots of girls leave after a season (or less) to get more playing time

Because they thought they'd have enough girls for two teams...and then they didn't so made one huge team...

Do what most clubs do, cut until you get between 18-22 kids.

I guess they would rather have the 23-26 kids on their bench then on the field against them.

Its easy to get sold on the "M&D" name if your kid makes it.

That being said, M&D Black is in the NGLL playoffs across the board, that is impressive.

Typical game no more than 15 or 16 player until garbage time. Even with a normal sized roster, there would be attrition. Lucky lots of blowouts for them. This was a problem for them before this year.

Anonymous wrote:What defines "compete?" A winning season? Pride went 4-4, and I don't think they would NL would beat pride. Crush went 5-2 and did not make the playoffs, and they were heads above anyone in the B division. Did NL play against BLC in a fall tourney or scrimmage? BLC blue went 1-7.

Having watched Crush, they are good, but mainly driven by the 2 middies. Having also played NL, I think they would compete just fine in the A bracket, but hard to say if they'd go 4-4 or 5-3 etc (didn't watch every game etc). Their middies are also very strong with some other players as well. The bottom 6 in the A division for 28 aren't any better than the top 5 in the B division imo.

The bottom 5 from A (excluding NEMS) and the top 5 from B would actually be a very fun and competitive league. I hope NGLL and the clubs are able to see the light and make this happen next year.

Nice to see that Next Level has 3 teams competing in the finals of the ‘27, ‘28 and ‘29 B divisions. This will hopefully attract some new talent this summer.

BLC 26s are in the B final and 27s are in the A final.

The 26 team has come on strong in the last weeks. Good for them.

Unfortunately both teams lost.

Great run for the BLC 2026 team. They have really improved. Happy for all of the NL teams as well.

Next Level ‘28s went 10-0 beating a solid Integrity team 11-6 in the B Division Championship. They look good. Hopefully they can get stronger in the offseason but have a solid defense and very strong middies.

Congrats to the 28 NL team, they had a good season. NL seems to be the club to go to for the MC girls.

I’m not a fan of MC, but their midnight teams play in the A bracket and could easily win in the B bracket as well. Next level is playing only in B bracket, so not a fair comparison.

Not true for all MC teams --I know the 2027 played in the B bracket.

As did their 29s.

As did their 29s.

Only their 25s and 26s played in A. 27s and 29s played B and they did not field a 28 or 30 team.
