+1 I love to watch my kid play but I'll happily sit in the car and surf the internet while he enjoys himself if needed. |
Oh shut up. Different poster. I have several years of youth soccer driving under my belt and these schedules do suck. There is nothing wrong with hating a 5:30 or 6am rise time for two soccer games many hours apart. We all do it but we don't have to like it. |
It is for spectators ONLY. Not the athletes. |
Eh, go pound sand. I'm allowed to want to have some time to myself that is spent doing something other than sitting in a car. My husband is taking him, but frankly, he is old enough to start to understand that there are human beings other than him with their own needs and feelings. If you don't want to impart that to your kid, that's on you. |
To be fair, you do sound very needy. |
Spectators, not participants |
I’d forego a season if it means putting those criminals out of business. |
DP. It's needy to want time to yourself and teach your children the world does not revolve around them 24/7? Yikes.

Resurrecting this post since now parents are starting to talk about it. I also interpret this to be specifically for spectators. Does that mean that with the upcoming tournaments there can be no spectators? You will for sure have more that 25 parents total between both teams. I am not sure how you can split that up per team 12.5 spectators each.

My concern is how it will afftect drop off, if that is true. I am fine with not staying for the game, but would not drop my 11 year old off in the parking lot at a torunament and hope that he finds his field. I hope parents can bring the kids and then leave. |
11 is old enough to navigate the soccer complex alone. Stop over parenting and holding your kids hand. My parents would drop us off at the mall at 11. We would spend hours there then get picked up at the end of the night. |
I could see that with some of the larger soccer complexes but I would say is an easy fix is to meet up with some or all of the players/coaches at the entrance and walk together. Then you only need a parent for the kid that always arrives late (there is always one). |

I suspect they mean no more than 25 spectators, as in coaches/parents/players congregating off the field (so, not including players actively playing).
