Having watched December club scrimmages- I’ll happily sit in a heated car instead of shivering on the side of a dark field. Kids love it, but those winter outdoor sessions are misery for parents |

Yes, incredibly selfish. These are experiences for your kid, not you. If he or she loves playing, imagine how they feel when one of their season's big events is canceled. But at least your day isn't inconvenienced. |
Seems like enforcement will be a problem for many events. I get the restaurant/bar and business thing. Easier to enforce with spot checks and fines. Kids sporting events that are outdoors ... here’s hoping they don’t spend any manpower trying to enforce. What a waste of funds that would be. Still no evidence that COVID spreads readily outdoors. |
| I understand no tournaments. But you take outside safe sports from kids - especially older middle - high school kids, you are more likely to have small group gatherings not as safe. And the mental health toll on kids has already been climbing. But I can see the incentive for government to show you are doing things and not lose economic revenue. Even with no evidence that covid spreads this way. |
They likely won’t enforce but what club is willing to break guidelines to have something happen and be known as the one that didn’t follow protocols and lose the confidence of their members. |
Praying for your extinction |
Enforce what? Spectator limits? Every parent understands spectator limits, that part is really no different than it has been. Y'all are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Yes, the rule makers are running amok, but surely there are bigger problems to be solved than this one. |
They only shut down bars/restaurants/shops. Then, we actually need essential people, so supermarkets are full. Hospitals (already transmitting junk pre-pandemic to healthy people) are full. Drug stores full. Basically, you can never get rid of, just lower curve until we open again to watch cases go back up. It's a roller coaster for eternity. We get seasonal flu all winter, then poof, summer it's rare.... then to seasonal, to summer, etc. Lock down low curve, open high curve, low, high, low... forever. |
NP. I know numerous people in this area who always wear masks in stores and at sporting events but who have numerous quaranteam exceptions. I wonder if this will stop now. My sister lives in Haymarket area and she and her kids follow the outdated "up to 10 people" indoors rule. In other words, they are maskless indoors whenever they want as long as there are ten people or fewer. As far as I can tell, the only way in which their social lives have changed is that they won't be attending major holiday parties this year. She is a Biden-voting, relatively rule-following person but this is what the people around her do. When I argued that this isn't safe, she countered that it should count for something that they haven't gotten Covid so far. This isn't even pandemic fatigue--they just have never fully bought in. |
Yes i did realize that. But the person said "not this again". Because this 25/ 11v11 topic was discussed for about a week on the 2 other moco threads. My kids have games in both states in the next couple of weeks so I'm aware. |

| Stopping outdoor sports is just crazy and is another reason why I do not vote for anyone who is for the huge shutdowns. I am all in if they say no spectators because that seems sensible but making kids not play outside is just lunacy. These kids need to do something and playing outside is way better than going over a friend's house inside. We have been able to manage Covid because our kids go to a lot of outdoor sports and then they feel they have some social interaction. I feel like this shutdown stuff is some sort of political move. Do not even mention Fauci anymore. I used to like him but every week it is something different. Let's do things that make sense. Kids can play outside with good Covid protocol. Parents stay in your car and stay out of indoor places and wear a mask. |
| Adding that 25 max makes zero sense because no subs for teams. They should have teams and coaches only. |
