No, you're right. Its a charity. For the betterment of youth soccer for boys |
It’s possible that there is something between these two extremes. You will understand all this more as you get older. The only people who say it’s all about money are those that do not have enough and need excuses and those who have too much but nothing else. And the reason people often don’t have enough money is not because they know how things really work, but because they do not, whether or not they are to blame. Have a nice weekend. |
My kid is a U19 player that has been recruited to play at the next level. Survived age change, ECNL, DA, to ECNL. I'm somewhat familiar. Have a nice weekend and enjoy the ride. |
+1 |
Then neither of you have an excuse for being that stupid in the guise of being cynical. The joke is counting on soccer for scholarships. But congratulations. I am sure things will work out either way. |
1. You need a hug 2. Nobody has a clue about what your talking about Either way, I hope it works out for you |
I don't think this is accurate. The DA clubs (except Loudoun) did not charge much more than regular travel and the price included two annual events + an extra night of training each week. I never felt I was subsidising MLS clubs - just getting a higher level of competition for my DS. |
I rather suspect they took additional teams where they felt they had lost too many. Here in Northern VA they basically lost all the old DA teams so decided to add more. In places were all the old DA clubs moved to MLS next I imagine they didn't add all that many teams. |
DA was run by US Soccer. MLS is run by MLS. MLS is not in this without financial considerations |
In some cases they do understand how things work and choose not to participate. Or they might be lazy
|
That could well be true. But I still don't see that the non-MLS clubs in the league are subsidizing the MLS academies. |
Okay. Its not a charity. |
Achillies???? Who is that |
This is simply not an answer. It is a total non sequitur. We know it's not a charity. That doesn't mean the non-MLS clubs are subsidizing the MLS academies. And if your reasoning were sound, that money is the sole driver of either the youth league or structure, you need to explain why they simply don't take everybody who applied. And if you are suggesting that non-charity status is unique to MLS Next, identify how ECNL or other leagues are charitable, or their constituent clubs. Otherwise I think we can continue to think you are FOS. |
It wasn't meant to be an answer. It was a statement. Someone with a good grasp of the English language, such as yourself, should know the difference. |
