Strangely this proposal authored by Democrats have appeals to Republicans. Asians get to learn a first hand experience of being a minority that has no political home.

It’s designed to increase black enrollment.

No it's virtual signaling. The outcome will mainly benefit whites at the expense of Asians. Black enrollment may be marginally improved. They can improve black enrollment easily today with the current holistic process.

Asian voters who were considering voting blue will most likely end up voting red (at least that is what is being circulated in different forums) or not vote at all, which is a terrible stance to take. To give up this right to have their voices heard, when they are already marginalized is not an easy one to make. I don't have data, but would be interested to see the impact if the Asian voters do change their political affiliation or chose to sit out this election.

Wrong. It's designed to increase white enrollment, but more importantly depress Asian enrollment. How dare the Asian in America have any space at all? It isn't enough that they diminish our success by targeting our parenting, calling our children mindless drones, and reward cronyism and nepotism in the workplace and call that the reason the Asian can't succeed. You don't see any white majority schools being targeted this way to increase black enrollment do you?

I am Asian American and I am voting red this year and in 2023.

Please limit your red voting to the local level. You will suffer much more if you re-elect trump than vote for Biden.

I hope some moderates will run for School Board next time. The only Republicans that seem to run are the social crazies who are focused on FLE and bathrooms.

I will try to convince DC who just turned 18 to vote red too. If you tolerate this kind of blatant discrimination, there will be more to come.

I'm not sure that's the solution though. Racism is the key to the Republican base at this point of time, so things are unlikely to get better with a red vote. What we need is a different Democrat in office. Northam is killing two birds with one stone with the lottery - he's pretending to be the URM-saviour so we'll forget about his racist past, and the racism inherent in his policy will ensure him the undecided majority red vote.

For many newly eligible voters born into Asian families, they are Americans by Asian (Chinese, Indian, etc) decent. They should be proud of their multi culture heritage (yes, the American part of their experience counts) and not be judged by their skin color and outward appearance. To some on this forum, these kids are not Americans, they are Asians and free to be judged and discriminated against.

Encourage your kids to vote and like another poster had said, vote differently at national and local if that is how one feels. Constructive debate at home (if they hold different view points from mom and dad) is healthy. Whichever way these young adults decide, an informed voter is another small step towards change and should always be encouraged.

Sitting out may become the choice for a large portion of the Asian voters.

"Never Trumpers" who voted for Jill Stein or stayed home are really always Trumpers. Own it. I had an idiot Jill Stein voter complaining that Trump won. Moron.
