Don't most Columbia students have private off campus apts? Those leases aren't going to disappear. I wonder if kids will still go into NYC or just stay home? |
Or UNY. |
No, all Columbia College and Engineering students are guaranteed dorms. Non-traditional students in General Studies are not and most live off-campus in non-University owned apartments. Grad students are guaranteed housing and most reside in Columbia-owned apartments. Since juniors and seniors were not going to be in dorms in the fall before, some students did rent apartments so they could live in NYC and be close to campus even if their classes were virtual. However, it's not really a feasible option for those on financial aid. Typically, NYC landlords require guarantors to have annual income exceeding 80x the monthly rent. |
| So which Ivys are still having students on campus at this point? |
Cornell...the community college ivy. Totally kidding |
Full speed ahead at Cornell with all students allowed to return. On campus testing of all students twice per week (Vet school laboratory is doing the tests) |
Harvard and Yale both have reduced numbers of students on campus (Dedensified type plans), but pretty much all classes online |
Shut up. |
Does Cornell have a plan for an outbreak? It truly is in the middle of nowhere. |
| But it is huge: it’s own city! |
Cornell is that state agricultural school in upstate NY, right? - Penn alum |
Penn is that school that had the child molesting football coach, right? |
Then off-campus Columbia students can hang with NYU students. |
Yup mostly focused on Ag studies. Teaching too? |
No!! |
