| UPenn reversed course and went fully online. Students are very upset. Not sure why the last minute change. They encouraged kids not to come to the area at all. Which ivys are left - Cornell, Columbia and Dartmouth? |
Harvard and Yale are online classes but students in residence (not all at same time, dedensified.) For now anyway. |
College dorm environment is the perfect environment for the virus to spread. The virus does not distinguish between ivy league or anywhere else. |
|
So late for this type of announcement!
There has not been any recent spike in PA. Makes them look pretty disorganized. TBH. How stressful for all involved. I am sorry, |
This. I have a Penn ‘24. It’s fine for us (albeit disappointing) because we live 2 hours away. I feel terrible for the kids who don’t have anywhere to live, who purchased flights/shipped stuff etc. |
| Cornell seems determined to stick to its hybrid instruction plan allowing all students on campus. |
Though no one has a move in date or been allowed to register for classes. |
Ivy League kids are smart enough to be strict with precautions and limit the spread. |
| If your Ivy League kids can’t hack DL, they really are snow flakes. |
|
Wait, you didn’t think this was always all about the money, and as soon as they got it they were going to bait and switch you?
SUCKER! |
Why are you paying $80k a year for DL, you bloody fools? |
Hahahahahahaha. Ivy League kids are just as prone to thinking they are invincible, going to parties, getting drunk and hooking up, etc., as any other college student. Germs don't care how prestigious your degree is. And if you didn't see this coming, I hope you don't have an Ivy League degree yourself, because even this state-school grad knew that colleges were going to start reversing course once the checks cleared and the logistical problems became both clear and immediate. |
| Wharton's MBA program is receiving flack for the last minute reversal as well. |
Then don't pay. No one is forcing you. |
|
Bait and switch. Tuition checks have been received so now can proceed as required.
Look at what NYU prof Scott Galloway is saying these days about colleges. Those that are pushing students to get on campus are likely doing so (unfortunately) for financial concerns. If they had said online was the only way forward many many students would have balked at paying (rightly so) for a subpar experience. |
