Columbia just sent out their letter. Same as Penn - stay at home, don’t come. Fully online.
Don't most Columbia students have private off campus apts? Those leases aren't going to disappear. I wonder if kids will still go into NYC or just stay home?
No, all Columbia College and Engineering students are guaranteed dorms. Non-traditional students in General Studies are not and most live off-campus in non-University owned apartments. Grad students are guaranteed housing and most reside in Columbia-owned apartments. Since juniors and seniors were not going to be in dorms in the fall before, some students did rent apartments so they could live in NYC and be close to campus even if their classes were virtual. However, it's not really a feasible option for those on financial aid. Typically, NYC landlords require guarantors to have annual income exceeding 80x the monthly rent.
