| June Elizabeth or Elizabeth June. Elsie could be a nickname, if you must. |
Oh, please. I’m not crazy about the choices either, but get over yourself. Such a dramatic and petty post. |
|
Is this for a cow? Or a dog?
If so cute. Not for a human baby. |
|
How about:
Maisie Marigold Dahlia Deliliah |
| Dear lord. Give the child an adult legal name and then call them whatever cute nickname (Daisy, Elsie, Margie) that you want. Do not saddle your daughter with having to walk into a courtroom and say, "Your Honor, Daisy ______ representing the Justice Department . . . ." |
| Daisy Elise is less bovine. |
| Daisy is an awesome name! It is a nickname for Margaret (because daisies are "marguerites" in French.) It's the nickname for one of the characters in Little Women. It's the name of the rich woman in the Great Gatsby. It's lovely. |
You bumped a year old thread for this comment? The baby is almost one, so no need to debate now |
|
Two cows are standing next to each other in a pasture...
Daisy says to Elsie, "I was artifically inseminated this morning." "I don't believe you," says Elsie. "It's true, no bull!" exclaims Daisy. |
For a cow or for your rescue dog picked up off the highway in Alabama? |
|
What did the mommy Daisy cow say to the baby Elsie cow?
It's pasture bedtime. |
|
Elsie the cow vs. Daisy the cow.
No please no. Can't a name ending in -ie only be the nickname? Like Jackie - for Jacqueline. |
| Same with sounding like -ie |
|
What is Daisy cow's favorite newspaper?
The Daily Moos |
Yes, it is a NICKNAME. That is the point. Also, I wouldn't bring up its connection to "the rich woman in The Great Gatsby" as if that is a good thing. Daisy Buchanan in TGG is a shallow ditz who literally murders somebody in her carelessness and then runs away from it/doesn't care. She's not meant to be a good person. And Fitzgerald is a master of the smaller brushstrokes in his masterpiece: he chose an inane, childish name for his ditzy, destructive, child-woman character. Nobody who read and understood the novel decides that this character is a great person they hope their daughter will be like or somebody who is an appropriate namesake. Daisy is a flimsy, insubstantial little name that is cute as a nickname for a little girl, but absurd for a grown woman. |
