Elsie or Daisy?

Elise is a beautiful name. I associate Elsie and Daisy with rural areas (not that there's anything wrong with that). Also, I have trouble seeing them as names for adults.

I saw the headline and said "oh, those are both cows". Daisy is better for a nickname, especially if your daughter is thin, pretty, and charming, but if she's at all heavy or not conventionally attractive, she's in for a lifetime of mooing. Horrible, but true.

So please give her a more generic name that she can use if she doesn't like it - like the upthread suggestion of Margaret for Daisy -- and just use Daisy as a nickname.

These are legitimately both names that will make many people think of cows (including me), as evidenced by this thread.

Elsie, PLEASE don't do that to your child. Don't sentence your kid to that in middle school. Have you met any kids?

Daisy is the slightly better option, but choose a different middle name that is much more mainstream and do not fight your kid if they decide to go by it. Even then, they'll still suffer through the yearly torture of the new teacher reading out the roll and calling them by their given name in front of the class, who will never let it die once they know it.
