Jury trial? Wouldn’t this be small claims or housing court? |
| No jury trial. |
Umm, this isn't Canada, you better believe your US representatives will forget to pay college students. |
|
This post has fallen off the rails and gone crazy.
If you signed a contract, you have to honor it. If you can't, or won't, there may be legal repercussions. Sorry life is tough. We can't all pass the buck. Fortunately for me, we were overpaying for a campus apartment, and so we don't need to worry about this. |
Again, why are you posting on this thread if you are acquiescing and paying? This thread is for parents who don't want to pay for an overpaid apartment that their student aren't using due to a global pandemic. And millions of corporations, private equity firms and small businesses are passing the buck onto tax payers. Now go back to your cats. |
Lady, you need to get out of this thread and back to your cats. The OP is not whining about anything. The OP has made it clear that this is a place for parents who don't want to pay out a lease that is not being used, to discuss options. OP is asking about getting out of a lease with a private company, not a college. Either read the thread, join the discussion to be had - what can be done about the lease - or get out of the thread and go back to your cats and pathetic marriage. |
| This thread is full of slumlord parasites. |
No, I think this thread is a mix of responsible parents vs. one poster insisting they are all cat ladies...! |
|
With "pathetic marriages."
Bizarre how his absurd stereotypes are plastered throughout his posts. No wonder his poor child wanted to rent an apartment instead of live home. The kids would probably pay double the rent to be there now. |
IDK, they already paid the colleges. They stated that they expect the college give the money to students. |
During a national emergency certain "contacts" are not legal anymore. For example, you don't have to pay the rent, you can just stop paying and they can not evict you. So no... the argument that "you signed a contract" does not hold. Just like you signed a contract with credit card and now they are going to stop interest from accruing. This is why we pay taxes, so during a time of need ... especially for those that have contributed their whole life... there are protections. |
While I appreciate that a contract is a contract, big companies are not paying their rents, so why should the little people? |
Seriously! It is weird how if someone disagrees with you they are suddenly a cat lady or have a bad marriage. WTF? |
Pretty much, yeah. Its gross and disgusting. |
Exactly. Its absurd that the OP created an innocuous thread asking for what other parents were doing during a global pandemic for an expensive apartment that her child isn't using anymore. And all she gets is abuse by gross slumlords shaming her for looking for solutions. |
