Browsed some names on Pinterest last night and a girl name that I really like now is, Elliana. How do we feel about that? Ellie for short?

We also really like Blakely but I’m on the fence.

Elliana is nice but I know about 7 girls under 3 with that name. maybe just my circle.

If you like L, why not use Liliana? That is really pretty and she can be Lili for short if she wants.

I can't stand Blakely. That's another one of those last-name-as-first-name deals, or like you're trying to be a "unique" version of Blake.

Op here- My cousin is Lily so that’s out. I’ve also never heard blakely as a last name ever but maybe that’s me. Oh well! We have 5 months to figure this out. Thanks!

Sarah Blakely. Or Devon and Blakely (the sandwich chain).

aren’t you a peach? Please share, what’s your child’s name?

NP but agrees with PP, Caroline and Thomas.

That’s what I thought. Basic.

Sure, maybe. But I can tell you that some day when someone is looking at resumes, they're going to go ahead and call Caroline before Everleigh or Leighton.

Caroline will be boring and generic like her name with a boring and generic resume and they'll just assume she'll add nothing to the company and get ignored.

You really don't understand how the world works.

I actually agree with the PP. Do you see the popular names now a days? Forrest, Apple, etc. Super unique names. By the time your Caroline grows up, her name will be the odd one out.

No, the popular names now are Ava, Charlotte, and Grace. (The only Apple was Gwyneth's kid and Apple is a teen and Gwynnie has been consciously uncoupled for a long time)

I beg to differ. I know a preschool class with two Ashers, a Forrest, a Violet, a Knox, a Harlow and a few others. Unique names are “in”.

If you use Eliana, please spell it properly. The extra L to be creative is kind of silly.

Eliana is good

or

Iliana (Spanish) is okay too.
Both are real names. No need to add the L.

Asher is not unique. It is a Biblical name, and has never really faded especilaly if the family is Jewish.

Violet and Forrest are classic names. They have been around for generations and are not recent, made up crap like Hadleigh or Leighton.

Again, beg to differ. I have literally never heard the name Forrest before the last year and the two that I have heard it from are from super crunchy moms with one having a sibling named “Rayne”. Asher has become very popular over the last 1-2 years. Sorry but the Hadleys and harpers and harlows, etc are what’s in.

You never heard of a movie called Forrest Gump? Based on a book about a man born in the 1940s? I know a lot of old men with that name. And I know a lot of Ashers of all ages but I know a lot of conservative Jews.

y'all do know the definition of "unique" right?
Anonymous
PP here. Eliana/Iliana is another classic one (not with the extra L) if you are Jewish.

Harper, Hadley, Parker= not at all unique, but also not traditional
Charlotte, Elizabeth = not unique, but very traditional
Millicent= fairly unique today, very traditional (it was popular in the middle ages)

pp Here. I guess Parker, Harper etc could be traditional if it was ACTUALLY your family name, like mom's mom WAS an actual member of the Parker family or something.

I guess not unique, but not traditional would be Annalynn, Leighton, Lainey (as a given name)

Eliana is lovely. Far better than the rest or your list. I think you could make “Laney” a nickname for it too if you wanted. FWIW, the Laney I know is a sweet girl named Elaina, so I think that works too.

I’m not a fan of any of your boy names. Cole is nice, but Colton makes me think of a cowboy—nothing wrong with that, I guess, just not my thing.

PP again. By the way Harper Lee was born Nelle Harper Lee. Harper was her middle name, given to honor a Dr. Harper who saved her sister's life.

I know two Laneys--Elaine and Helana (not Helena but Helana which is Greek)
