How do Fairfax Co. residents feel about this?

Perhaps as this issue grows, as it is apparently doing in Fairfax County, that will change.
Or, those who are fed up at the lack of immigration enforcement will leave the county. Like we did.

Win-win.

https://wtop.com/fairfax-county/2019/10/suspended-fairfax-co-officer-who-held-driver-to-be-detained-by-ice-will-return-to-duty/

The police officer is back on duty. Fairfax County is one of the highest recipients of unaccompanied minors released to sponsors . It always makes the ORR list of 50 or more for a county. About 5500 plus since October 2013. What does that mean?

It has one of the highest pools of available sponsors in the country. Sponsors can be relatives, friends of family, people known from their own countries as being here. Ironic the county didn't want the UAC ORR site on the DHS bid. It makes it easier for the politicians chosen group and the minors. I'd write constituency but if illegally present they can't vote in actual elections. They could vote in the Fairfax County Democratic non-partisan school board endorsement process.

They could not vote in the Arlington County Democratic Committee endorsement process. Had to be a registered voter. If the person with the ICE bracelet now owned the vehicle did he/she pay car tax? Did the owner of the vehicle pay car tax?

Maybe our tax dollars will pay for the immigration lawyer and the police officer will be unemployed.

None of us get to do what we want without repercussion. You are undocumented, AND you drive without a license (and presumably without insurance), AND you get into an accident? Yeah sorry, there are consequences.

I completely understand a human being seeking a better life, but this person should not be on the road.

Fairfax County residents need to make their voices heard.

Fairfax County residents make their voices heard every Election Day. Somehow this issue doesn’t seem to be turning Fairfax more red.

OP of this quote. Oh, I will never, ever, ever vote Republican ever again. Ever.

I support middle ground initiatives - I don't support a wall, or separating mothers from their kids, or moats of snakes and alligators. I also don't support restricting blanket immigration from countries our POTUS randomly deems as dangerous because they follow a particular religion.

But I do recognize that we cannot take in ever single person, and I do support measures to restrict or limit illegal immigration - punishing employers and making the incentive to cross the border more difficult. And certainly punish people who break laws that endangers others - like driving without a license and being wanted by ICE.

Neither side is doing a good job on this issue. There is a more moderate line, and while I take issue with how Democrats handle issues regarding immigration, the Republican philosophy is equally repugnant.

The Democrats have shown that they have no interest in slowing the flow of illegal immigrants. So, your views as bolded above will NEVER be implemented by Democrats. Their more "moderate" line is decriminalizing illegal crossing, not enforcing illegal entry, and providing health care and other benefits to those here illegally.

You obviously have every right to vote for whichever party you want, but you should be aware that part of the problem in politics is people who feel exactly this way. Too many voters just vote along party lines. Doesn't matter that the candidate might not have their best interests at heart.

If you feel that illegal immigration is a problem, you should take a look at the actual local Republican candidates and not immediately rule them out simply because they're Republican.

I voted for Hillary in the last election, and I watched some of the Democratic presidential candidate debates. I certainly don't think that offering health insurance to illegal immigrants, and decriminalizing border crossings is the answer to the US immigration problem.

Unfortunately I don't think this is likely.

MoCo had a slew of rape stories last month where the alleged perpetrators were illegal immigrants. Even victims as young as six. But, the County leadership held firm with its support of illegal immigrants. There is a LOT of money behind the cause. There are lots of people who benefit financially from illegal immigration and don't care about the negatives. The media sells the public this story, and so it continues to flourish.

That poster never claimed Langley Park was in MoCo.

I’m the one who posted about CASA’s very secure fence. I never claimed LP was in MoCo either.

So, are you seeing other posts on this thread the rest of us can’t see?

It's kind of odd to bring up CASA's Langley Park location in a thread about Montgomery County, if you know that Langley Park isn't in Montgomery County.

It's like me saying something like, "Is there any doubt that Paris residents disapprove of Saudi Arabia's policies on killing journalists?" I mean, I could - but why would I?

Okay, sure. Because anyone opposed to illegal immigration must be a Macedonian troll. That’s reasonable logic, right there.

CASA is a corrupt organization with too much political power in MoCo. CASA supports illegal immigration. They happen to have a place in Langley Park that is complete locked up and secure so that people can not enter illegally.

So, an organization that supports people who enter the country illegally, does NOT want people to enter it’s Langley Park location illegally.

No, it is completely locked and secure because of people like you...hillbillies, racits, bigots and xenophopists.

Why would someone knowingly come here in violation of federal law, and then operate a motor vehicle without a license or insurance in violation of Virginia law?

Have you spent any time wondering about that?

No, you say?

Shocking.

Why would someone knowingly come here in violation of federal law? For an opportunity for a better life.

Why would someone operate a motor vehicle without a license or insurance in violation of Virginia law? Because to get places in Virginia, you basically have to drive.

This isn't complicated. If you think it is, that's shocking.

Wow. Excuses, excuses. You liberals need to stop defending illegals if you want to win the presidential election. They want a better life? That's no excuse for them to come here illegally,

All four of my grandparents wanted a better life, too. They came here legally and had to show they wouldn't become a public burden.
