This officer is facing disciplinary action for violating FCPD General Order 601-Arrest procedures (VIII c. 5. e.) which reads:
If the response reads “OUTSTANDING ADMINISTRATIVE WARRANT OF REMOVAL” and the individual is not in custody or being taken into custody for any other violation of law, officers shall not confirm the hit through LESC and shall not take the individual into custody based solely upon the IVF hit. The majority of such administrative warrants represent civil violations of immigration law. Do we not have immigration laws in this country? This partially explains why we have north of (probably VERY north of) 12 million illegal aliens residing in our country. Background:

I think there’s about to be a work-slowdown among Fairfax county police.
Whether the officers on the street agree or disagree with the policy is beside the point. None of them like that a fellow officer is being made an example of, caught up in some political theater, with real life consequences when it comes to his career. No cops will like that, and this will seriously affect force morale in a very negative way. I didn’t know anything about the current chief, but after seeing this, he’s clearly an idiot. |
| Why would criminal law enforcement be involved in administrative enforcement? |
Why would someone knowingly come here in violation of federal law, and then operate a motor vehicle without a license or insurance in violation of Virginia law? Have you spent any time wondering about that? No, you say? Shocking. |
| That is so stupid. I hate that Fairfax county is overrun with illegals. What idiot came up with this rule? |
| The officer is a hero. The chief should be fired. |
+1, he needs to get booted all the way back to NYC where he came from. |
OP here. My question as well. I am wondering how long this rule has been on the books. |
Why would someone knowingly come here in violation of federal law? For an opportunity for a better life. Why would someone operate a motor vehicle without a license or insurance in violation of Virginia law? Because to get places in Virginia, you basically have to drive. This isn't complicated. If you think it is, that's shocking. |
And, when a police officer - a person who has sworn to uphold the law - finds that a person involved in a traffic accident doesn't have a license to operate a vehicle AND is unlawfully in this country is reprimanded for upholding the law, there is a problem. |
Nope. That's not what he was reprimanded for. Read the OP. |
| I’m fine with it. LEOs don’t get to make up their own rules as they go along, that makes us all less safe. |
I am the OP. He was reprimanded for upholding the law. |
