By your logic, I should come break in to your home and steal whatever valuables I find there - because that could better my life. And I should also steal your car in order to get back home after I rob you, because it’s Virginia, and I basically have to have a car to get around. Care to post your address? I’m free today, I can stop by while you’re at work. |
Bingo. This nails it. We are now at a point in some places in this country where illegal aliens have MORE protection from law enforcerment than actual US citizens do. This case illustrates that perfectly. If the driver were a typical soccer mom from north Arlington, she’d be in jail, until she bonded out. But if the driver was an illegal, they’d be released at the scene, because if they held them, ICE might arrive in time to pick them up when they bond out. This is complete lunacy. I’m strongly considering telling the police I’m an illegal alien if I’m ever involved in a traffic accident of any kind. Everyone else should as well. |
No, I don’t. Do you? Then why does the FFX county police chief get to? Because the uniform code of Virginia states that police shall notify ICE. Is Fairfax county in Virginia? Or is it some extralegal jurisdiction where only certain laws are observed? Please tell us. |
Agree completely. I’m in MoCo and this is the problem that I have with MoCo being a Sanctuary County. |
The question was, why was the person driving? Not, should the person be driving? That's a different question. I agree that unlicensed, uninsured drivers should not be on the road. Actually there are plenty of licensed, insured drivers who shouldn't be on the road. |
It's not. |
It's interesting that you think that being in a country without authorization constitutes stealing valuables from the country? |
No, it constitutes a willingness to simply ignore the laws that don’t suit us if doing so is in our personal interests. We either have laws, or we don’t. If some people get to disregard them because it suits them, then what laws do I now get to disregard because it suits me? |
Correct. It’s not an official policy. It’s only a sanctuary county in-practice.
You wanna see the greatest irony in the history of ironies? The CASA de Maryland offices in Langley Park? It has a 6 foot fence all the way around the property, with a locking gate. |
In other words, you know that it isn't, but you like to say that it is. |
Traffic laws. Not only do you get to disregard them, there's a 100% certainty that, if you have a driver's license, you actually do disregard them. Not all of them, all of the time - but many of them, quite often. |
Just as the county likes to boast that it isn’t a sanctuary county, despite it functioning as one. Yep. You nailed it for me. Thanks. |
DP Not sure how it is in Fairfax County, but people regularly get citations in MoCo for violating traffic rules. You can't travel on most main roads without coming across a traffic camera. Or a red light camera at many intersections. So, if I do disregard a traffic law, I am often issued a citation and pay a fine. Much different for when people immigrate here illegally and don't face any negative consequences. Especially different when they are actually rewarded for being here illegally by being subject to a slightly more lenient set of laws. |
So in your mind, invading a sovereign country illegally, and driving there without a license or insurance, is exactly of the same severity as doing 34 in a 30. It’s good of you to illustrate exactly where you stand on this so everyone can have a fully informed opinion of you and your posts. |
Is there any doubt amongst MoCo residents that CASA is an incredibly corrupt and horrible institution? |
