I lean left and have immigrant parents, but have no problem with what the officer did. None of us get to do what we want without repercussion. You are undocumented, AND you drive without a license (and presumably without insurance), AND you get into an accident? Yeah sorry, there are consequences. I completely understand a human being seeking a better life, but this person should not be on the road.
+1
+2 Also have immigrant parents and find this kind of thing infuriating
+3 Fairfax County residents need to make their voices heard.
Fairfax County residents make their voices heard every Election Day. Somehow this issue doesn’t seem to be turning Fairfax more red.
OP of this quote. Oh, I will never, ever, ever vote Republican ever again. Ever. I support middle ground initiatives - I don't support a wall, or separating mothers from their kids, or moats of snakes and alligators. I also don't support restricting blanket immigration from countries our POTUS randomly deems as dangerous because they follow a particular religion. But I do recognize that we cannot take in ever single person, and I do support measures to restrict or limit illegal immigration - punishing employers and making the incentive to cross the border more difficult. And certainly punish people who break laws that endangers others - like driving without a license and being wanted by ICE. Neither side is doing a good job on this issue. There is a more moderate line, and while I take issue with how Democrats handle issues regarding immigration, the Republican philosophy is equally repugnant.
The Democrats have shown that they have no interest in slowing the flow of illegal immigrants. So, your views as bolded above will NEVER be implemented by Democrats. Their more "moderate" line is decriminalizing illegal crossing, not enforcing illegal entry, and providing health care and other benefits to those here illegally.
