Okay, sure. Because anyone opposed to illegal immigration must be a Macedonian troll. That’s reasonable logic, right there. CASA is a corrupt organization with too much political power in MoCo. CASA supports illegal immigration. They happen to have a place in Langley Park that is complete locked up and secure so that people can not enter illegally. So, an organization that supports people who enter the country illegally, does NOT want people to enter it’s Langley Park location illegally. |
There are definitely posters on DCUM who are obsessed with CASA. But in real life, CASA doesn't have anywhere near the power or influence these posters claim. |
No, it doesn't. You're looking at the 2007 StreetView image - which was taken during the restoration of the building. https://www.encoresdesign.com/bbportfolio/casa-de-maryland/ The restoration of the McCormick-Goodhart Mansion turned a badly damaged, vacant, historic property into a thriving Multicultural Center that serves the immigrant community. The construction work included restoration of exterior and historic interior spaces, adaptive use of service and storage areas, and an underground addition. This required work on every part of the existing building: site work, structure, finishes, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. We strategically included sustainable features in the project without destroying the building’s historic character. The architect helped obtain historic tax credits to fund 60% of this project. All work met or exceeded the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards, and was approved by the National Park Service, state and the county agencies. The project has Gold LEED certification from the US Green Building Council. The extensive use of green features is saving energy and water, and reducing pollution. Received the Maryland Historic Trust Project Excellence Award, the Prince George’s County Historical Society St. George’s Day Award and the J. Timothy Anderson Award for Excellence in Historic Rehabilitation, Most Innovative Adaptive Re-Use. Awards: 2013 Altrustic Project of the Year- USGBC MD 2012 Historic Preservation Design Excellence Award of Honor – AIA VA Society 2012 Institutional Award – AIA Potomac Valley Chapter 2011 Project Excellence Award – Maryland Historical Trust 2011 Award for Restoration – PG County Historical Society St. George’s Day Award |
| ^^ I'm astounded that Casa de Maryland has $13.8 million for this renovation project. |
Quick pivot there. |
Is there a Go Fund me for this Fairfax County native thinks of him as a hero and would like to help with his legal fees. |
| Whoops. Is there a GoFund Me for this FCPO? This Fairfax County native thinks of him as a hero and would like to help with his legal fees. |
I would too. But, the officer has not been identified. If you find there is one, report back. TIA. |
That was my point . Sorry, I wasn’t clear
|
| Wow, so an officer is relieved of all duties, and the individual who was detained will probably get a big settlement (maybe?). I get the moralistic chest thumping, but something seems out of balance here, from a common sense perspective. |
That settlement will build a palatial villa back in El Salvador. |
Agreed |
Fairfax County residents make their voices heard every Election Day. Somehow this issue doesn’t seem to be turning Fairfax more red. |
Perhaps as this issue grows, as it is apparently doing in Fairfax County, that will change. Or, those who are fed up at the lack of immigration enforcement will leave the county. Like we did. |
Win-win. |
