Kids went off the reservation at Costco tonight

Anonymous
Not sure about Costco, but Sam's Club has shopping carts with two seats behind the cart. The seats have seat belts. When my twins were that age, I would tell them that if they did not behave properly, I was going to put them in the cart with the seat belts on and they would get no food samples while they waited for me to shop. That normally put them in their place as they hated to have to sit in the cart with the 4-point seat belts on. And one of the reasons they loved to go shopping with me was to get the samples.

If that didn't work, then they would lose whatever privilege was coming right after we left, whether it was not going to someplace we were going to go or not having TV or something at home. But the punishment had to be something in the near future. At that age, kids don't really have a concept of time and anything beyond bedtime is someplace in the distant future. So taking away a summer camp program really doesn't come into their minds at critical decision-making time because it is too far in their mental future to make an impact through their emotional responses.

I don't even know what else an appropriate punishment is.

To the pp who said we should leave immediately most of this started as we were in the process to leave? How should I handle Then? I felt like I couldn't walk into parking lot befor3 things were under control but ultimately did.

Who has dessert on a Monday night?

You're kidding right? Are we still in the 1950's where dessert is only on weekends?

We have small kids. We have dessert 1-3 times a week. Sometimes one of those days is a Monday. The point is moderation, dessert is a treat for sometimes, but there are no days that are off the list.

Cosco is a brand of baby gear (strollers, car seats, etc.) They provide a product for you to buy; unless you visit their corporate office or warehouse or something, there is nowhere to "kick you out" of.

Costco is a membership based warehouse store.

+1 very offensive
