Anyone dealt with teens sneaking into or out of opposite sex’s homes late at night?

We told ours use the front door.
No time for trips to the ER for jumping out windows 🙄

Not all of us believe in constant surveillance. I find the fact that 90% of the homes in my neighborhood have cameras to be really messed up. It’s not going to serve you well as we descend into fascist dictatorship. I don’t want to be recorded absolutely everywhere I go.

You don't like to see who is coming up to your door? Strange in this day and age. I am not surveilling anyone, but if you walk up to my door, I would like to see who it is. If you are not approaching my house, you won't be on camera....

I don’t care who is coming to my door. If I’m really curious I look out the window. We have no camera and probably won’t ever get them.

Really? Even when you aren't home? On vacation? You don't want to know if people are coming to your door, dropping off packages, etc.? This tech is so commonplace. I can't even imagine that teens sneaking out is even a thing anymore.

Not much you can do.

I mean you remember being young don't you? We all did it, and they will all do it. We even did it at band camp in Jr. High, couples or boys/girls would have spots to meet after lights out to make out. The bolder boys would try to come in the girls bunkhouse but the tattle tale goody two shoe girls would rat to counselors. Most counselors didn't really care though, they'd just say "Don't get knocked up on our watch!"

There’s no need to sneak around during beach week. Love is in the air, and on the couch, and in the bathroom, or on the pool table.

No I don't care who is coming to my house if I'm not there. I really don't care. My neighbors will grab packages if they get delivered. No desire for a camera.

No. It's not common. Don't normalize such behavior.

+1.

What kind of stupid comment is that of teens getting around late at night in Uber? Uber notifies the account holder of every trip.

It’s very common

Must be very common in your circles, certainly not in ours.

What circles are you in? So my friends with teens at the following schools have dealt with this.

Holton Arms
McLean Public HS
Gonzaga
GT Prep
STA
Visitation
Stone Ridge
Bullis
Whitman
Churchill
Potomac School

I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make with this list. Is this supposed to represent a cross section of society? This is like saying “Singing acaprella in formal wear is very common. I saw it at Yale and Harvard and Princeton.”

I’m more worried about that than them sneaking out. I am trying to keep communication open and raise responsible young adults. They will make mistakes but I want them to know that they can tell me anything. My parents don’t know and should never know half of the stuff we did though.

Like what? What is so bad that you can’t tell your parents years later?

Where on earth were you raised? Not normal in my area. Considered delinquent.

Seriously!

I’m another with no cameras. I wonder if this is generational. I’m 52 and think it’s funny that you can’t imagine anyone living without constant surveillance. I guess if someone leaves something at my door it will be there when it gets back, or it won’t. If I’m expecting it, then I probably won’t be out of town. If something really weird happens I’m sure my neighbors will let me know. The only time I really wanted one was when an animal ate something off my porch — was really curious what kind of animal!!

I am 42 and have zero desire for a camera. I also do not track my kids. I also only want one sometimes to see animals. I was thinking of putting one in my veggie garden to catch our cucumber culprit lol.

Not in a city and not at 13!

Sorry? How do you know? Where you there?

Not PP but we live in the city. A different type of 13 year old wanders the city at night and my 13 year old doesn’t want to encounter this type so he stays inside.

+1. Lol! There are 9 year olds with guns wandering around my neighborhood at night, and my teens know this. No need to persuade them to stay inside.

41 and same. If I had a real reason to feel like my security was threatened or if I did have a kid that would sneak out, I wouldn’t hesitate to get some set up though. But no far no and I don’t track them either.
