Anyone dealt with teens sneaking into or out of opposite sex’s homes late at night?

Why do parents think this isn’t going on? Sneaking out as a teenager is as old as time! I did and so did most of my friends. And we were all top students, and considered “good” kids.

Not in a city and not at 13!

In a city? We’re talking mostly Bethesda and NOVA. I lived in a suburb of a big city very similar to Bethesda. We did it a lot starting around age 14

Sorry? How do you know? Where you there?

Does this mean they are too young to drive? I’d come down like a lead hammer on this. It’s NOT normal and is dangerous

I had a high school boyfriend. Many friends did too. We had normal curfews (11-12ish, depending on the yr), and I never stuck out. I don’t know anyone that did.

Friend of mine got caught in the middle of the night by her BF's parents.

Very embarrassing.

was a kid in the 70's. in summer we did it frequently. would go to girlfriends house and throw small pebbles at it until she came out. would hide vodka outside and then would leave notes for milkman to leave extra orange juice, and they would, it was the norm back then, and then we would have screwdrivers. parents were clueless.

Alert the parents of those homes.

Read your teen the riot act, pointing to news stories where teens where shot to death by homeowners for coming into homes that weren't theirs.

I mean I guess alerting the other parents might get it watched on both sides, but they can still use a parked car or blanket in the park.

Ring doorbells/etc on your own place make sense.

I did this frequently in the 90s. It was normal teenage behavior. I am now a lawyer, have 2 kids, and break no rules. I joke to my husband that our kids will never be able to do this because of Ring cameras. Every door of our house has a camera. No kids are sneaking in or out. Our dog would also ensure of it.

Are there people who don't have Ring cameras now? How is this even still a thing?

But she says her parents were just so strict and critical of her. They didn’t know she was sneaking out but tried to control her every word and move during the day. She said she would have endured any punishment they gave her. Something to think about.

Sounds like they were right to criticize her and control her, that girl sounds really messed up.

The girls I know who did this in middle school (no, not a typo) did not have strict parents and had really nice lives with minimal rules. And they still snuck out. One of them would dial random numbers in the phone book until a 20-something male picked up and then she would convince them to meet at the dead end in the subdivision where it hadn't been expanded yet to deliver wine coolers. She runs her own business and lives down the street from my elderly mom.

Another one would put the family station wagon in neutral and roll it out of the driveway before starting it in the street. Then she would joyride around town until 4 am. This started in 6th grade when she was 12. All of the neighbors knew but never said anything because her parents ruled the neighborhood and no one wanted to cross them. Her parents are in their late 80s and once in a while they show up in my instagram feed tagged with stuff like "kind and queen of [neighborhood adjacent to a country club]". The girl had some bumps in college and after, but is now doing great and has a beautiful house where we grew up and a $7M house in Tahoe.

What funding source is their Uber App connected to? What access do you have to the device?
