+1000 but I am in Maryland. Jealous wasn't my 1st choice, but he is now. |
Exactly. And the Dems are really tone deaf in running a progressive redistributionist candidate named "Jealous" against a popular incumbent. |
| I didn't vote for Jealous in the primary, but I'm sure voting for him in November. |
| Jealous. He is a bit too far left for me, but Hogan is an a$$hole. |
If VA or DC wants the money of racists and white supremacists who move out of state simply because they cannot bear to have a POC as their governor, then that's for their conscience to deal with. I say good riddance. If getting rid of people like that was as simple as raising taxes a few dollars, then hell yes! Let's raise them a LOT ! We can have a butter quality of life, better amenities, superior schools, a real and effective safety net for the homeless and new Americans, AND no racists. Zero downside. |
Exactly |
| Jealous all the way. I voted for him yesterday. |
Racism with a side-order of homophobia, eh?
You are a vile, disgusting creature. |
Ditto. Voted for Baker but will hold my nose and vote for Jealous. He won't win but it will be closer than last time. |
|
Okay, out of curiosity, are any of you who say you are voting for Jealous from anywhere other than Montgomery County?
Hogan still has a 70+% approval rating across the state, well over 80% outside of Montgomery County. The polls from as recent as last week state that those who say that they would vote for Jealous over Hogan are still under 20% (last I saw, it was around 16%) whereas those who say they would vote for Hogan over Jealous are over 40%. That's a large discrepancy to overcome. While I know this polling was done when there were other Democratic candidates and that some will move to Jealous from other Democratic candidates, prior to the primaries, Hogan still had a big lead over ALL Democratic candidates combined (totaled about 36% combined). Additionally, there are some who supported other Democratic candidates, like Baker, who will be supporting Hogan rather than Jealous. It is up to Jealous to rally a lot of the undecided and Independents to his flag, but I think he's going to have a hard time doing that. I think it is a very hard uphill battle for Jealous. |
I'm sorry but what? I wasn't PP but Chelsea Manning spilled confidential info on our nation's military. That is messed up. |
| Hogan. |
DP here. You are very, very wrong. Chelsea Manning is a convicted traitor. She pleaded guilty to violating security and espionage laws. She was only available to run for office because her sentence was commuted by Obama. There are many who feel that a convicted felon who did not even serve the full sentence is not a good candidate for political office (ignoring the obvious jokes of convicted felons being perfectly qualified to serve in the US Senate). The feeling that she is completely inappropriate for the job and shouldn't have gotten as many votes as she did can easily have nothing to do with her transgender status or any judgment of it. |
| Jealous. I like a lot of his platforms. The only thing I find a little questionable is full-day pre-K. I know it makes parents schedules easier, but that s a long day for 3 &4 year olds. |
|
Jealous. I'm definitely left-leaning - mostly on social issues but with a little more moderate fiscally and, that said, Hogan hasn't been as bad as I feared but Ben Jealous is talking my language.
