| This Democrat will vote for Larry Hogan. |
| Jealous. Hogan screwed over poor students and their families with the school calendar. |
|
Jealous, but I'm in DC so it's irrelevant. I will not vote for any Republican for any level of government until and unless they fundamentally change their platform and tactics. The Supreme Court decisions handed down yesterday illustrate why this is important - there is no such thing as a moderate Republican because they all toe the party line, which is extremist. Mitch McConnell's theft of a SC seat will have wide-ranging implications for American rights and civil liberties, and zero so-called moderates raised a peep then or now. I firmly believe every Republican politician places party over country. Further, due to their party's rightward drift, they are unable to win by appealing to centrists and therefore are "forced" (as a result of their own actions) to kowtow to their extremist fringe to get elected. Anyone with an R after his or her name is complicit.

Name recognition for Chelsea. And it was a very small percentage despite being 2nd. I will vote for Hogan. I voted for him last time too. I thought the calendar thing was dumb but otherwise think he’s done a good job. |
I am in the same boat, except I didn't support him last time. It says a lot when one of the main complaints is slightly changing the school calendar. I didn't like that decision, but I also don't think it is a big deal at all. |
| Democrat voting for Hogan. |
State government superseding historical local control of school systems to benefit business to the detriment of parents and students is a bigger deal than you’re making it out to be. |
| Democrat here— I have no complaints about Hogan and worry about Jealous’ advocacy background. So I’ll be voting Hogan. |
Another Dem voting for Hogan here. The big things Jealous is proposing- state single payer health care, free college, universal pre-k are a massive expansion of govt that will no way be funded by a "1% tax on the 1%". Not even close. |
I am reluctantly in the same boat. I think the school calendar decision was dumb (as well as inconvenient) and it was a big deal - there are reams of research that show that longer breaks lead to worse educational outcomes - but I can't see that as a reason to vote against him. And, in a state like Maryland, where the left is well tended, it helps to have some moderating influences in state government. |
| Jealous for sure |
| I'm casting a protest vote against the GOP so Jealous it is. |
+1 I’m in md |
It really isn't. We are talking about starting school a week later. I do not believe that causes any real detriment to education. And doing something to help businesses in the state, which at the shore includes lots of mom and pop small businesses, is not a bad thing. |
Potentially two weeks later. And School ended earlier too. Long summer vacations are antiquated. It is better for students to have multiple breaks throughout the year. Nearly three summer months are unnecessary. -teacher |
