Who are the lounge chair claimers?

I do the same.

Oh man, if I was paying for a Ritz I would expect a primo chair available whenever I wanted!

Then the Ritz has to figure out how to provide enough chairs for ALL guests - if you think that and every other customer thinks that. How crazy would that pool look with 300 chairs and 50+% of them empty?

i didn't read all 6 pages of this. But I just got off a cruise where a funny thing happened. My husband and I went to eat breakfast in the adult area on the ship. There were these nice round lounge beds, almost in a pod. We watched these guys move one over towards another one so they could have 2 together. 5 minutes later this woman comes screaming, " you moved my stuff!" they were like, "we didn't move anything, the worker did!" her response, "my husband woke up at 6:30 to save this seat!" it was 8:30 at the time. I was laughing hysterically.

Signs everywhere saying belongings left >30 min will be removed.

ha! yes this thread reminded me of the signs at Teaism asking people not to do this

Wait, this is not OK? I send my kids to sit down while I stand in line and order.

No, not ok because it means people without food are taking up tables for a long time (during the waiting to order, ordering, etc process) and people with food (or who are about to get their food) don't have a place to, you know, eat.

Doesn't matter as much if the place isn't crowded.

Guaranteed that husband hates his life, and that the wife pushed him out of bed at 630 to go reserve chairs for her.

When they do finally show up they don’t stay for long and don’t really seem to enjoy themselves. Who are these pushy little people and how can they get that worked up whilst on vacation?

Have you asked a staff person to collect the abandoned stuff so that you can sit down? Or have you gathered it together and given it to a staff person saying that someone left it?
Yes this is what I would do.
