Who are the lounge chair claimers?

I do it, if you stay at enough resorts its just second nature. I'm up very early, drink my coffee at the beach and go for a walk then I go breakfast. I may or may not return to my chair/s depending on what my kids and husband want to do. I may never return to my chair because I'm swimming but I may, sorry haters. Early bird catches the worm.

What would you do if someone just moved your stuff? I don't typically go to these kinds of resorts (I rent a house on the beach on the Cape instead) but that is what I would do. Typically resorts have signs posted saying that you can't reserve chairs for hours anyway.

I got into a shooting match with a man who claimed we had stolen his marked chair. Even though his chair just had the same hotel issue towel all the chairs did. So stupid.

I’m from Western NY and I’d have to agree with you, except to say they are probably from the NYC area or Long Island.
I’d also throw New Jersey onto the list as well.

I'm from Long Island and I would never wake up early enough to do this-and I don't have any friends that would. Don't forget- Strong Island parties hard.

No, it was better when it was a shooting match.

Sometimes ends up like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfJzvjpNdsM

We stayed at this resort and witnessed a woman at the quiet pool throwing a complete fit because her 4 chairs were taken when she showed up at noon. She had saved them before breakfast. Other chairs were available, but she moved chairs around and yelled for over half an hour. People tried to reason with her to "calm down lady, you're on vacation!" She saved 4 more and they were mostly empty the rest of the day.

My first thought was New Jersey.

This.

This +1000 I was recently at a Ritz in the Caribbean and the two front rows of chairs were taken every morning by 9am. The staff told me that people get there at 7am. And the place was full of Long Islanders, I could tell by the accents.

I try to stay at places that rent cabanas or similar set up to avoid this BS.

I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise, and you can't claim lounge chairs for hours like that. I seem to remember signs saying that if you leave things unattended by a certain amount of time, they would be removed. I appreciated that.

Oh man, if I was paying for a Ritz I would expect a primo chair available whenever I wanted!

We were at the Disney Animal Kingdom hotel pool and saw staff pick up a bunch of towels and take a bag to the lost and found. The woman showed up and other people were sitting in the chairs and she flipped out on them. It was crazy.

Unless the chair reserver actually witnessed you moving her stuff - it seems like it would be so easy to play dumb and just say "someone else must have moved your stuff, this chair was empty when I got here"

We were also at Disney in March and a lady came along with her toddler and stroller and was flipping out that her stuff was missing. I was trying to help her look under the nearby chairs to locate it since one of the chairs that we were using was "hers" until she mentioned that she'd only been gone for a couple of hours so the stuff should have been right there. At that point I just suggested she ask the staff and sure enough they had her stuff.

What surprised me the most was not that her stuff had been moved, but that she couldn't understand why or how that might have happened.
