another pedophile at Cloverly Elem

Anonymous
Principals were provided with the email and instructed not to send md out until the evening, I believe 7 pm.

He subbed at my children’s school and I have met him there. He was ‘wierd’, as my child said, and I would agree very socially awkward. I spoke with him a number of times. We did not see any concerning behavior for abuse but it’s not shocking either.

Did this sub also work at Olney ES?

We are at a Silver Spring ES and have not received an email.

Are they only sending the message to schools he was at? We also didn't get an email from our principal.

A 4th degree sex offense? Any lawyers that can explain what that might entail?

I hate to ask such a question but since he was accused of molesting a boy should I be worried about my daughters being a potential target? They attend a howard county school where he was a substitute at. It makes me ill to even ask such a question in the first place.

Yes. You should talk with your daughter. Did she see anything? Did anyone touch her? She may have information that the police need to know.

Adults can be bisexual. Pedophiles can prefer male, female, or both.

Yes my daughter confirmed she had him as a sub.

We received no email, and we have a child at Sherwood ES. So if "convenience" is his thing, SES is closer to Howard than Olney ES is.

This is true. If anyone in the system suspects abuse/suspicious behavior, we must call CPS. But after that call, we're done. However, speaking from experience - mine and colleagues' experiences - CPS is pretty much worthless. Or, like teachers, they're overworked.

So I don't expect much of this system regarding safety b/c it's too big to monitor. Therefore, I make sure that my own children know to be vigilant, which means when these ugly cases surface, we talk about them.

so pathetic

None of them write their own emails. It is sent from Central Office and sent out on school stationary with the principal's name filled in. Part of the reason why things take so long to come out to parents--it has to be drafted and approved by a legal team before it's sent out to principals to send out to parents

Just so you all are clear on what MPCS is NOT doing......this guy subbed in Howard County to. As far as they know, he did not abuse anyone there. And yet, the Superintendent sent an email / communication to every single parent in the system saying what MCPS found out. And the county wide PTA is running posts on Facebook updating people about what schools he has been in there, and LISTING EXACT dates. As they pour through more records, they add more info.

Here in MCPS? Crappy form letters to each school 3 days after the arrest. I got the Pyle one, my son at Pyle says he had this guy last year as a sub, which means my other kid who is now at Whitman could have been in contact with him too......think Whitman sent a letter? NOPE.....I emailed the principal and he said central office makes that call, he can not.

So.....Howard County= proactive, transparent, trauma informed. MCPS - head in sand, nothing to see here, fend for yourselves while we protect our reputation.

Many, many people who sexually abuse boys also sexually abuse girls and vice versa. Yes you should also talk to your daughter.

Frustrating. But not surprising.

I was wrong. Both the ES and MS sent out a letter. My husband received them.

Found a list of the MCPS schools he subbed at:
http://www.mymcmedia.org/police-charge-substitute-teacher-cloverly-elementary/

"Besides Cloverly, Katz had substituted for 14 other Montgomery County schools: Burtonsville, Olney, Sherwood, Burnt Mills, Brooke Grove, Seven Locks, Wayside and Burning Tree elementary schools; Pyle, Farquhar and Frost middle schools; and Kennedy, Sherwood and Paint Branch high schools."
