another pedophile at Cloverly Elem

He lives in Columbia, which isn’t too far down that area. But it does make me wonder if he also subbed in Ho Co.

More than 600 children are known to have been abused in MCPS in 10 years. I am willing to march for them. Would PTAs be willing to help with organizing 599 more to march on the Central Office so the superintendent and Board of Education can have a reality check as to what that number looks like?

No MORE children abused in MCPS. NO MORE.

I am absolutely willing to March for them. That is a LOT of kids and most likely there are more who have not reported their abuse. The response from MCPS has been almost non-existent.

We got several emails from the Super about the anti-Gun marches and school security, but what about how MCPS is going to address the epidemic of pedophiles.

This is absolutely a way that MCPS is NOT keeping our kids safe. We’re talking about elementary school kids here. So disturbing.

So is your argument that MCPS should not do them? Isn’t it better than nothing?

Good for the boy who reported the teacher molester.

+1

Good for him.

And this is the 3rd incident (I believe?) at Cloverly?? What is going on there? That’s terrible.

It's a MCPS problem. And why isn't the Cloverly principal fired by now?

Any parents at Cloverly able to comment? Did the school notify parents or did you only learn about it through the media?

Should PTA organize a March to protest this or have workshops for parents? Sure. Except YOU the parents are the PTA. So join and serve in the PTA Boards. Else, you all are all talk. Parents, it is your issues, your children issues...don't expect anyone else to volunteer and organize it. PTA provides a framework for engaging in a formal manner with schools, policymakers etc. So use it. No one will be spoonfeeding you, no one wants to do your work for you.

PTA is made of volunteers who do not get paid a cent for spending countless hours for your children. Step up! Please.

PP, if you want to have a march, then you need to start organizing it.

I am. The Churchill cluster will be represented. This issue is directly affecting our community.

Yes, he has substituted in Howard County as well. I received an e-mail from the Superintendent yesterday. It was sent to all Howard County parents last evening after 9pm. I awoke this morning to see an e-mail from my child's principal which indicated that he sub at my child's school back in November 2017. This monster has been floating around various schools molesting children. WTH! Maryland really needs to crack down on the pedophiles in their schools.

Please post any details you may have. I will definitely support this.

But no email from the MCPS super...

Can Pyle/Whitman parents chime in? Concerned about some things I’m hearing there too and am hoping we’re not in the same boat as Clovery/Churchill.

Interesting. Thanks for posting.

So HoCo sent out an email but MCPS has not sent out anything. I certainly have not received an email from Jack Smith about this.

Every cluster in Montgomery County should have parents to represent this issue. Every PTA should help educate parents on how to talk with our kids. Abuse continues when there is silence.

That's a shame. Mr Smith needs to stop burying his head and address the parents of MCPS. The Howard County Superintendent sent out a letter last evening. I just recently received an email from my child's middle school principal 15 minutes ago that Mr. Katz subbed at their school last year. The principal gave the dates and the teachers that he has subbed for. He also gave us a number to contact detectives working on the case. Both my elementary and middle school administrators at my children's school have made themselves available today for parents to discuss matters with them. Tomorrow both schools will have people (I'm assuming counselors and the school's psychologists) in place to talk with parents. I have friends who live in Baltimore County Schools and their principal sent them a letter as well. This is horrific because this creep got around all over this area.

My hope is that all of us within Maryland need to join forces on this matter and take it to the state level because it has effected so many school communities in various counties.

The number that my principal gave us was (240) 773-5400. The email mentioned that this is the number to call if your child was victimized by Mr. Katz. The detectives are in the process of seeking other victims of this creep. Please talk with your child and if you have any concerns contact authorities ASAP. Don't wait on the schools. Go straight to the authorities!
