Cloverly hit the trifecta. The Montgomery County Board of Education should be ashamed and people in MCPS, starting with the principal at Cloverly, fired.

agreed. No one wants to talk to their kids about this topic but it needs to be done. Kids need to know what is ok and what isnt,
The first incident at Cloverly was a teacher who had 3rd grade girls sitting on his lap.
My DD is 5 and we had talked about good touch and bad touch but I hadnt thought to include sitting on a male teachers lap. She would have though that was harmless, I told her that she shouldnt do it if ever asked and she should tell someone.

Good for him.

And this is the 3rd incident (I believe?) at Cloverly?? What is going on there? That’s terrible.

Can PTSAs start having experts to help parents with knowing the age appropriate discussions we should be having with our children? Elementary, Middle School, and High School discussions?

It's a MCPS problem. And why isn't the Cloverly principal fired by now?
Anonymous
Why does there have to be a 2nd or 3rd incident at the same school? Clearly MCPS is broken and doing nothing to keep child abusers away from our kids.

This is terrible. Does the principal have anything to do with choosing or screening the subs?
Anonymous
Maybe we need some marches? I was not into the Gun Control March, but I’m pretty sure you could get a ton of parents (from all sides of the political sprectrum) to march if it was to draw attention to the prevelance of pedophiles in MCPS.

Do subs have background checks? Not saying that can prevent everything but at least it could help?
Anonymous
This guy could have subbed at any number of schools in MCPS. This isn't just an issue of Cloverly! How are they screening subs? What is the oversight? MCPS needs to answer to all parents and we need to support the parents at Cloverly. What a terrible situation!

What if the sub had no previous record? You can background check all you want but if they've never been caught before, no flags are going to show up.

Has MCPS identified other schools he subbed at?

Background checks would at least be a start. And, maybe simple Google search?

There have been two incidents recently where a Google search would have prevented pedophiles from getting MCPS jobs (the security team leader at RM and the other man whose license was taken away in Florida).
