People, your internet browsers are designed to track the kinds of stuff you search for and view, and to adjust the search algorithms to produce similar types of results for future searches. So if you do a lot of browsing of home improvement/decor sites, a search for "oak" will disproportionately bring up oak furniture results, whereas if you're an avid gardener, it'll will tend more toward oak tree results. If you search for a lot of porn, you'll end up with a different kind of result for "oak." If MINTS TS is bringing up porn results for you, it's because you're using your computer to look at a lot of porn. If this is your work computer, I'd think twice about that.

DS, who frankly would rather google mints than do math, said "I love jr mints" and clumsily fast-typed MINTS TS into google. Yes, he clicked the first link in the list. Why, I don't know. It was first. That's when he saw the image of someone who looks female but had an erect penis. It scared the shit out of him. HE DID NOT NEED TO SEE THAT to understand about transexualism. I believe you, Op. All he had to do was type the word MINTS with an extra TS at the end and up pops that image. The kid made a typo MINTSTS. Maybe he typed MINTSTSTSTS by mistake and deleted the middle TS's and inadvertently left the last TS there.....MINTS TS. It's really not that hard to see how this could have happened.

The point is that a kid can google something pretty tame and wind up seeing something completely inappropriate.

No...that image just does not "pop up." You have to click ANOTHER link to get to that image. That's what people are trying to say. He had to intentionally click the link to see the image.

Well, if you had tried it earlier you would have seen the same thing that I saw. I do not google porn sites on my computer. My kids don't use my computer. My husband doesn't use my computer. And when I google something random like a cooking recipe or a food product, I always get an image or a link for what I am actually looking for. When I googled MINT TS I did NOT get MINTS - the first link that popped up was to that pornographic picture....that I now can not unsee.

I googled what the Op said to google, the same thing that Op's 11 year old child googled, and that pornographic link was the first link to pop up.
