| My 11 DS borrowed my laptop to do some school work and accidentally googled something, clicked a link, and brought up a very disturbing sexual image. It was something he wouldn't understand and it really freaked him out. He quickly closed the link but screamed and cried and was really distressed. I was right there when it happened--he was sitting at the kitchen table--and he'd closed the link before I saw it. I wasn't able to check the history until later but I was pretty freaked out that he'd seen that. So much so that I cried for his innocence. I asked him if he wanted to ask me any questions or talk about it and he said no and teared up again. Poor kid. What can/should I do?? He's too young to see that stuff! |

There is nothing you can do but weep. His innocence is now destroyed.
On the plus side, he won’t be looking up donkey fisting again. At least, not for a while. |

| Do you have safe search of the equivalent turned on so that obscene images won’t turn up in search results? It’s not a perfect filter, but it gets most stuff so if you have it off I’d turn it on. |

I do now. I didn't think I needed on my personal laptop since the kids seldom us it and not without supervision. I guess that plan didn't work.
