Hogan's pretty blasé about Discovery leaving Silver Spring. It's not like there's a ton of big companies chomping at the bit to relocate to Maryland.

What's he supposed to say? DC is a strange place to headquarter a media company. It doesn't surprise me that they would go to NY. Most of their bigwigs are there already anyway. |
He's supposed to tell the voters all the ways he tried to prevent this from happening. And how he will go to the mat to stop it from happening again. MD needs to keep the jobs it has. He is supposed to be negotiating and using his clout to leverage opportunities for businesses. He's not being proactive. You greet the loss of a major company with a shoulder shrug? Your ass is OUT. |
What did the MoCo County Exec (Leggett) do about Discovery? Oh right, he's a D. So he gets a pass. |
Agreed. |
Leggett isn't running again. Hogan is. And he's a Republican--he's supposed to be pro-business competitiveness. |
Good grief, Hogan ran as the bring business to Maryland candidate. He hasn’t even been able to keep existing business here. His pleasant demeanor has thus far disguised the fact his administration has been a failure. |
| Maryland’s public schools were ranked number one in the country before Hogan’s election, according to Education Week. Now, the same survey finds them middle of the pack. Heck of a job, Hogan. |
People have asked about Hogan's accomplishments, and it's been silence. Mostly they tout the $$$ roads to rural parts of the state that make developers happy and his Ocean City welfare program idea of legislating all school calendar start and end dates. |
That is sad. Make Maryland Schools Great Again. |
Are you really saying a County Exec has as much power as the Governor? Please remove your head from your ass. |
This is a really good single issue for the Dem nominee to run on. Non-stop. If MD schools really slid that much in the rankings (which is crazy), Hogan is in a world of hurt. MD parents love their excellent public schools. |
That’s a winning slogan for Hogan’s opponent: Are your schools better off than they were 4 years ago? My kid is in K so we’re new to MD public schools but the parents with older kids are always complaining about classroom crowding. |
There are no leading candidates for the nomination from Baltimore City government. I’m not a huge fan of Kamenetz, but our taxes have been stable, Baltimore county has very good schools and he has dedicated money to the construction lot of new schools. You can’t complete ignore a city that makes up more than ten percent of the state’s population and has ibeen one of the job centers in the state, and claim to have done a good job because you built a few roads in rural Maryland. |
| Hogan has such disdain for MoCo. Not going to vote for him. |
