Wow that’s interesting and a lot. Care to include some insight on the police and the judicial system in terms of how they factor into this whole softness on crime thing? I mean it can’t all be a consequence of black elected officials catering to their black constituents - somehow the law and order factions have to play a part, right? Oh and before you answer don’t forget the DC Chief of Police is Peter Newsham. Notice...he’s not black
And also bear in mind that in the District all felonies and some serious misdemeanors are prosecuted by the U.S. attorney’s office, whose chief is appointed by the President and is not accountable to D.C. citizens. Donald Trump appointed Jessie K. Liu. She was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 14, 2017 as the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia and took office on September 24, 2017. Notice...she’s not black. |
were you at the DC rehabilitation act hearings did you see the pushback police chief answers to council and the city at large attorney's office has to deal with DC juries |
So you’re saying the law and order factions are essentially paralyzed by the political power of the black masses who are all in cahoots to curtail severe consequences for criminal acts Despite The Fact that they are the primary victims of said acts. Wow...well that certainly is an interesting theory but I gotta say it sounds highly implausible. I’m not sure if you know any black people who are District residents or how comfortable you are conversing with them about such subjects but I encourage you to ask some of them about their supposed supreme authority over the criminal justice system here in DC and be sure to take note of their reaction - it’ll either be an incredulous look of confusion as they wonder what the hell you’re talking about or an outburst of uncontrollable laughter at your obvious delusion. Blacks are intimidated by cops and courtrooms not the other way around. |
| I live in DC and don’t feel that crime goes unpunished. I think MPD does a good job and every interaction I have had with them has been great. I think the folks posting here don’t live in DC and don’t visit often. |
I I also respect mpd. But some crime in DC does go underprosecuted and unpunished and there's lax oversight for people in halfway homes etc. On what are you basing your "feeling"? There's an excellent post series on youth adjudication in DC and the travesty it is, if you'd like facts.... |
Apparently you are not a cop. The majority of black people that cops deal with in high crime areas are hardly afraid of the cops. Cops don't beat down people like they used to in the 70s - 80's. |
Please enlighten us about your experience with Cops, black people or the District of Columbia - I'd be willing to bet your experience with anything DC related is limited to racing in and out of the city in your SUV going to and from Nats or Caps games. |
|
^ You were wrong about everything, except the fact that I don't live in DC.
Now please tell us how black people are so afraid of DC cops. Do you have any experiences that you would like to share, or have you seen some cool vids on the net that you don't like? |
| I love it when white people think they are such experts on Black people. Some whites say Blacks are scared of cops because of injustice. Others say Blacks have no fear of cops, because Black people are naturally fearless of all authority. The worst part of it is that most these self appointed experts have very little meaningful relationships with Black people. |
Ain't a city in this country where black people aren't afraid of the police dumbass. |
So on the most relevant metric here you fail - you don't live in DC. I'm pretty confident you also are not black and based on the stupidity of some of your comments I doubt you spend much time in DC - but please tell us what makes you, as an outsider, such an expert? |
| I'm not the person you are challenging but perhaps they live in a city they consider to be like DC? Or have lived? Anyway, who cares. Personally I agree that DC is hard to know from the outside because it would be hard to believe how liberal our council is, and how much more interested in national political issues they are than bread and butter issues like city hygiene and crime. They actually do work hard, just on things that don't improve the quality of life for mostr the people who actually live here. |
|
So you make the rules about relevant metrics? Since you are the spokesman for black people on DCUM, why are you afraid of the cops? Let me guess, those bad boy cops are "over policing" your neighborhood? Why are you afraid? Were you a victim of police brutality? Maybe DC cops need to soften up. |

God please no, the MPD already takes the show up and do the bare minimum for anything barring murder approach. It's not their fault though, the city and citizens don't want them to be proactive. |
