Didn't you know? Theyre innocent angels on the brink of turning their lives around and the police are just unfairly harassing such fine upstanding members of the community.

I’m not getting how the above report relates to the thread topic. Wouldn’t a news feed of the offenders getting sentenced to probation or community service tie in more?

Violent crime in the nation’s capital has plunged dramatically throughout the year, as 2017 enters its final month. Violent crime is down 23 percent compared to this time last year, according to D.C. police crime data.

But it's up in formerly safe neighborhoods like Woodley Park. The predators are migrating.

They must be migrating out of the District altogether if it’s down 23 percent citywide.

Because the inmates are running the asylum......obviously.

Come on. Since Jan. 1, there have been nine incidents of violent crime within 1,500 feet of 2800 Connecticut Ave. NW. That's up from seven incidents in the same 2016 span. So yes, it's "up." By two incidents. (Source: DC Crime Map)

Meanwhile, property crime is way down year-over-year for the same parameters, as is total crime.

"Formerly safe neighborhoods like Woodley Park" is perhaps the most ridiculous sentence ever posted on these boards, and that's saying something. You probably have a better chance of getting hit by lightning in Woodley Park than being the victim of a violent crime.

The statistics are for crimes that are actually acknowledged. There are many more crimes committed that the police don't pursue or arrest. We are leaving DC because our once nice neighborhood is filled with petty BS that the cops shrug and say "hey, life in the big city."

Three violent crimes in a month committed by some of DC's "finest youth" who are roaming to Woodley Park as their new hunting ground. I don't think that lightening has struck so frequently.

Maybe fewer of these predators would start of a life of crime at a young age if they were afraid some day of having to “ride the lightning.”.
