What is your uber rating?

4.55 . Kind of annoyed because essentially half of drivers are giving me a 4 for no reason I can think of. Quiet, polite, don't ask for anything. Smile. Also, my fiancé has a 4.62 so he's enjoying that .07 a bit too much!

Same pp. I have a 4.4. I think it's because to me a 4 is not a bad rating. I'm not going to read too much into it.

Completely agree. One of the reasons I held off on using the service for so long.

No, it's not ridiculous. Drivers should know that type of people they are willing to pick up at 2-3 o'clock in the morning.

Really? And what is the difference between a 3, 4, or 5 customer? Are there some sort of rating guidelines that drivers use to understand what "type of people" they're picking up? No. It's an arbitrary rating system. It honestly tells them nothing unless someone has a sub-2 rating. Like I said, identifying abusive customers or those who should be banned makes sense. But otherwise letting drivers rate customers at 3, 4, or 5 is just pointless.

Exactly. There should be a way to note if the passenger was unsafe, dangerous, or damaged the car. Otherwise, it seems like a mechanism to try to get passengers to accept whatever crazy stupid thing the Uber driver does (like, take you on the interstate instead of surface streets; refuse or be inexplicably unable to stop at the actual address you typed in; drive dangerously; etc.) Likewise driver feedback by passengers should be specific only to the areas that reflect the actual job -- safety of car and driving, appropriate route, listening to directions, and actually managing to pick up and drop off where requested.

The rating doesn't even really make sense, as Uber penalizes you if you actually tried to use the information: drivers get penalized if they cancel on customers and customers get charged a fee if they've canceled on a driver en route.

It seems to me that the rating is solely for Uber's BigData benefit. I'm wondering if they are charging higher fares to those with lower ratings?

Many drivers will not pickup someone with a 3 rating late at night. A 3 rating screams troubles and headaches.
Then what's the point of customer rating drivers?

4.8 and I never ever tip.

Another 4.8

My rating dropped down to a 4.6 or something like that after one incident in Miami where the driver called me for pickup, did not seem to speak English, and wanted me to walk two blocks from my hotel to meet him. I had a couple of bad experiences with Uber in Miami that same trip.

Interesting - I have a 4.4 and mine dropped after a trip to Miami as well. Nearly ever driver either made me walk to them or claimed to drop me off at a different location then my requested drop off (thereby incurring me an extra charge. I fought those charges and won (because I never changed the drop off location).
