OK, well then I'll offer my moral support and continued appreciation for your hard work. Good luck with negotiations.

No! We need parents to go to the Mayor. Public embarrassment and pressure are the only factors that
will help us. Please ask your child's teacher for more information on this matter.

Why are you unwilling to share what you find unacceptable with the District's proposed offer?

DCPS teachers starting salary - BS, step 1 is $51,359 for a 10 month contract which annualizes to nearly $62K/year. They continue to be some of the highest paid teachers nationwide.

Most of them received at least a 20% increase in 2013 and they want more... retroactively based on the increased salary scale. I support teachers, I don't support greed. The lack of a contract is about greed.

Alternative facts.

I'm a 6th Year teacher with DCPS. My current paycheck is $1,417 twice a month. Please tell me how this is greedy? I can barely afford
to live in the city. I have 2 roommates and have to supplement by waiting tables on the weekends when I have a bachelors degree and am a certified licensed teacher.

So you're claiming to make less than the listed salary for a first year teacher in DC?

I'm claiming that after taxes and other categories are taken out of our already low salary, our gross income barely meets the cost of living in the city we teach.

Their contract is only 10 months worth of pay that is spread out over a 12
month period. Run the numbers x2 a month for 12 months and the numbers add up. It's absolutely ludacris that we trust these people with our children yet don't think they deserve to make as much as the next blue collar worker in D.C. such as police and fireman?

You must send your child to private school, or you just don't understand common sense.

Taking into account cost of living, that's not good enough. I'm a parent, and I want teachers to be paid a respectable salary. Pathways to the middle class and all.

has DC teachers in 42nd place nationwide.

I think that's enough to support their demands.

You are nuts if you think a 51k starting salary is low paid. Get a grip.

Quality breeds quality. We want quality schools. We pay for quality teachers. 42nd for The Capitol is UNACCEPTABLE.
