Wow, do you live inside the station? Do you also work as a station attendant at Gallery Place?

jealous much!

that you live in a subway tunnel? Definitly not.

Sorry, you feel the need to demean others because your commute sucks.

My commute involves walking to my home office, shower optional. I'm most definitely not jealous that you take the metro daily-LOL!

The train takes exactly 18min from TS to GP, so why is it demeaning that I assume you live in the tunnel? When i take the metro (i live in Chevy Chase a stones throw from Friendship Heights metro), i still have to walk to the metro, get in the station and wait for the train. I then have to get off the train, out of the station and walk to my destination.

At what time of day? 5am? I commute from the same area to Navy Yard and it takes me 25 minutes on a GOOD day, more like 35 regularly. I leave my house at 7am.

That said, time of commute (ex: 7am) and END of commute are also factors here.

Same area - Shirlington - leave my house at 7:30am, get to the my office @ 8:10 - includes parking and walking from parking garage to office

In the evening - leave my actual office at 4:35pm and including walking to garage and getting out of garage plus drive - home around 5:15pm - on a really good day maybe 5pm

People do this all the time! It's so annoying. My friend used to say she had a 30 minute commute all the time. I stayed with her for a week while our floors were getting refinished. Every morning she would leave at 7am to be at work by 8am. One day she was freaking out at 7:10am about how she was going to late for a meeting (8am) and couldn't even finish her cup of coffee.

This was last year. A couple weeks ago I saw her at a dinner party and she was saying "oh yeah, the commute's only about 30 minutes! It's great!" I guess it all depends on perspective. I would shoot myself if I had to drive an hour every morning and evening. Maybe that's why so many people lie to themselves about this?

Upper NW DC to Tyson's (I know I don't live in Suburbia but I work there so I thought I'd add).

Leave around 8am - 20-25 minutes
Return around 4-4:30 - 30-35 minutes
Drive

My DH has a HOV plate and leaves Vienna (near Nutley) around 7:30 and is usually at his K St. office by 8:10 - so 35 to 40 minutes on 66 HOV. He has done this for about 8 years. He takes the metro once in awhile and it takes about just under an hour door to door.

It seems most of those posting don't have dropoff duty for kids? All of those who are leaving at 7-7:30 seem to be going straight to work. I'd like to hear what the commute is like for parents who do dropoff.

Five minutes to New Carrollton station. 10 minutes to Union Station using MARC. 5 minute walk to my office. All in all about 25 to 35 minutes when you add in parking and waiting.

There are definitely some delusional posts on here who either aren't counting the average door to door or are not actually traveling during what most people would consider rush hour. Maybe both! It's pretty obvious which posts are realistic and which are not.

Ashburn Village to Metro Center: 25 minutes driving off rush hour; 35 during rush hour. On bad days 40 minutes. I also have time to cook six course dinners every night, knit sweaters for my kids and compose music for their choir with all the bountiful time I enjoy from such a kind commute.

Google maps lists the commute from Takoma Park metro to Gallery Place metro at 17 minutes, and although that's clearly an approximation. I'm completely outraged that you'd shave a whole minute off you're commute!! LIAR!!@#$
